Extras: The first disc included a cast list, a web trailer, and some websites, mentioning what was on the second disc. The second disc also had a cast list but included some filmographies, trailers and a 117:23 minute long Behind the Scenes feature with a lot more interview material, lots of Ashley Fires, and more insight into the movie being made. While some of the BTS was additional sexual material, there was a lot of interviewing as well, making this even more appealing to fans of the cast, especially Ashley Fires.

Audio/Video Quality: Belladonna’s Burning Embers was presented in the usual 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Aiden Riley for Evil Angel in a standard definition release using the MPEG-2 codec with 480 resolution. As expected, the mixed level of lighting resulted in some grain and video noise, the creative team behind the project focusing on raw energy and kink over technical superiority, most of the scenes looking unpolished and rough. Still, the action was clear enough and fetish fans will find the sheer amount of kinky fuck for the buck to be enough to largely compensate for the technical limitations that still remain. The camera angles were a mixed batch and the video bitrate hovered in the high 4.4 Mbps area when I spot checked it, nothing out of the ordinary for the company but it did not look nearly as harsh as some of the smaller fetish companies either. In any case, the audio was presented in a similar fashion with a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in the usual 192 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate) offering that sounded hollow with no separation between the channels and no music to bore you with. Still, it was not significantly worse than most gonzo titles out at this time, the sonic portion less important to most fans than the visuals.

Body of Review: Belladonna and husband Aiden Riley co-direct various porn titles for Evil Angel, relying on Bella’s sexual imagination rather than learned technical skills to convey heated scenes. While I prefer technical expertise more than most, I still routinely appreciate the rougher looking shots provided in titles such as Belladonna’s Burning Embers, a double disc fuck flick dedicated to showcasing performer Ashley Fires. For those who have never heard of her, Ashley is best known as a performer in fetish and lesbian titles, the six included scenes showing her masturbate, do lesbian work, and assorted work with guys including anal and DP. From the look of her on the cover, I was not expecting a whole lot but thanks in large part to how she was presented, the title was pretty solid overall, Ashley’s smoldering sexuality and willingness to give it her all elevating the scenes more often than not.

Summary: Belladonna’s Burning Embers by director Aiden Riley for Evil Angel was above average for a dedicated fuck flick, capturing all sorts of fun starring hotty Ashley Fires so I rated it as Recommended for a general audience, fans of Ashley certainly needing it as a “must have” for their collections. In short, Belladonna’s Burning Embers showcased Ashley Fires in all sorts of sexual acts that she had not engaged in before a camera in the past, her boy/girl, anal, and DP a step up from the potential she had not lived up to before this release. In that sense, she proved herself in all sorts of heated situations, making the end result one well worth checking out beyond my initial expectations so give it a chance as Belladonna proved she was up to the task of making Ashley truly shine.
