Extras: The entirety of extras came on the second disc (other than the 2 included red & blue 3D glasses), the bitrates adjusted to allow for a maximum of footage to be provided in an all out extravaganza of bonus materials. First were 5 separate Behind the Scenes features, the BTS cameras by Nick Ventura, Scott David, Will Ryder, Eric Swiss, Oren Cohen, Miklo, and Darren Roberts with editing by Cyrus Weatherbee. The first lasted 37:26 minutes, detailing a lot about the production, some of the cast, and even some wood difficulties by Eric towards the end. Director Will Ryder had a lot of screen time with co-producer Scott David making an appearance from time to time. The second BTS lasted 29:19 minutes and had guest appearances by Paul Fishbein, Marco Banderas, and Felony XXX (working behind the camera). The third BTS lasted 47:53 minutes and gave more of the same type of footage, agent Mark Spiegler, Dominic, and others involved in the production included.

The fourth BTS lasted 30:49 minutes, starting off with Scott David outlining what X-Play Media does differently than other parody producers, Will expanding on some of the business themes but a lot of mixed footage included of numerous performers too. The fifth and final BTS lasted 36:38 minutes, Will focusing on a couple of the scenes being shot but no specific theme provided here either. These BTS featurettes were followed by a Director/Producer Travelogue lasting 17:29 minutes, the dynamic duo of parodies pointing out they were still editing (and joined by Mia Gold on their couch), Will making an error in which award Jessie Andrews won. Then came the 14:31 minute long Blooper Reel, various goof ups documented and probably more blowjob footage from the first sex scene than appeared in the movie. Next was a 10:33 minute long feature on the Making of the Music, Will Ryder showing yet again his musical chops. There was then a photogallery, a special 3D version photogallery, two bonus sex scenes from Beverly Hillbillies XXX lasting 16:41 minutes and Rocky XXX lasting 21:12 minutes long, some trailers, and a replay of the introductory menu. Audio/Video Quality: Not Animal House XXX was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Will Ryder for Adam & Eve (and his own company, X-Play Media). The technical side of things greatly benefitted from the usual regulars such as editing (sound and video) by Mark De Wop, camera by Will Ryder & Miles Long, art direction and set design by Scott David (XXX Ray assisting on sets), and lighting by Tim Studley; their previous endeavors well documented here on Xcritic. There was a lot going on in most of the scenes, especially the scenes where groups of people were playfully flirting or otherwise kept around for parties. The lighting was solid, the editing showing some abrupt cuts due to the production trying to fit on a single disc (the production leaders admitting the running time was initially much longer), but the majority of pornified elements seemed worthy as a nice tribute to the awesome source material from over 30 years ago. The aural qualities had a lot going for them too, thanks in large part to the music by Jeff Mullen, Rock Hardson, and Chazzy Green; the extras including some material on how they were driven to complete the picture of the visual aspects of the movie. The music during the sex scenes was on the repetitive side but overall, the vocals could generally be heard clearly enough, the music was original, and the ambient noises seemed fitting.

Body of Review: Will Ryder is largely credited for jumpstarting the whole porn parody craze some years back, his works typically tributes to the original source material rather than just copying and adding sex scenes like some try. For all the many touches he and partner Scott David put into their movies, I have come to expect more from them than others, their latest work coming from a deal with Adam & Eve in the form of Not Animal House XXX. The original movie came out back in the 1970’s, its success spawning a cottage industry of copycats that continues today so it makes sense that the X-Play team would be the ones to tackle to project. In this case, they took the themes and ideas from the movie and applied some creative touches to assist with pornifying the subject matter, the inclusion of one of the largest casts of recent times helping make this one especially interesting to me. Also of note was how the movie again shows the director’s genius in casting someone like JJ Hollyberry in the John Belushi role, the man amounting to this year’s Thomas Ward (a great Bill Cosby impersonator used in several parodies). If you’re looking for a straight copy of the original, look elsewhere but it terms of fuck for the buck sex, this one kicked ass in terms of sheer volume, the extras among the best of the year for the genre too. Sexually, Asa Akira was wonderful and Jessie Andrews was as sweet a piece of ass as ever, hotty Playboy Playmate Spencer Scott certain to cause a rise out of any straight man, but the rest of the cast also showing some care. The back cover described the movie like this: “Director of-the-year Will Ryder blends XXX hardcore sex w/ the greatest comedy of all time. The Delta House is a wild sex-filled orgy of misconduct polar opposite the Omegas but when Dean Wormer puts Blutarksy, Otter, Dorfman, Pinto & the sorority girls on ‘double secret probation’ for excessive banging & sucking, the Animal House unleashes a parental nightmare of anal sex, wild orgies & sexual acts so profound & tasteless that decorum prohibits listing them here.”

Then the press release said this of the movie: “If the late comedian John Belushi was still alive he would almost certainly approve of Animal House XXX which injects so much sex into the Delta House that not even double-secret probation can keep the students from engaging in twenty-four hour a day premarital-banging. Set for a late September release from Adam & Eve Pictures and X-Play, the porn parody of the National Lampoon classic is setting up nicely to become the year’s biggest adult blockbuster but some close to the project are wondering if the movie contains “too much sex”. Eric Swiss, Anthony Rosano, Jack Vegas, Seth Gamble, Eric John, Ralph Long, Chad Diamond, J.J. Hollyberry, Christopher C. Raff, Ron Jeremy and Tom Byron as Dean Wormer plus some frat boys round out the guys. Everybody knows that John Belushi was a person of excess so it is only fitting that this hilarious porn parody is filled with belly laughs and what some say is too much sex. Actor J.J. Hollyberry brings Belushi’s famous Blutarsky character back to life with humor and incredible facial expressions. “It was like having Belushi on set,” crowed co-producer Scott David. “I don’t have to wait another minute to say this is the adult movie comedy to beat come awards time and I would love to know what John Landis the original director of Animal house would think of what we did with their gem,” Ryder reflected from the X-Play Hollywood headquarters.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Callie Cyrus, a slutty little pledge in short shorts and black crop top, was up first as she blew Eric Swiss on the couch (to the chagrin of the Omegas). The story elements played with the original material enough to fit in as a contemporary remake too, Tom Byron an excellent Dean Wormer, JJ Hollyberry an exceptionally amusing Blutarsky, and Asa Akira truly kicking ass sexually (like that wasn’t a given!); the end product coming across as strokable and entertaining, the movie a contender for all the usual awards and worthy of being Highly Recommended for any parody fans. In short, Not Animal House XXX was a lot of fun, had impressive amounts of sex (though I would argue there were not “13 sex scenes” as the cover states since the menus themselves list ten and two bonus scenes from unrelated projects; even #9 and #10 technically part of the same scene while #1 was a very short hummer). Still, all the nitpicking aside, the incredibly lengthy extras on the second disc were worth the price of admission all by themselves, many of them serving to document the difficulties of shooting such a huge porno under current industry conditions, and the amount of fine female flesh on display was second to none in the parody genre so give it a look.
