Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 full frame ratio. The picture was grainy and had some compression artifacts but was otherwise alright. Oh, I did notice some color bleeding at times too. The sound was in Dolby stereo and was also okay except for the usual wind noise and times when someone bumped the boom mike. On a related note, there was some jarring edits that looked really weak just before Evan and Brittney's scene.
Body of Review: Vivid makes a lot of porn and sometimes you can really notice when the corners are cut on one of their features. In the case of Life, the movie starts off by setting up Taylor as a bitchy, domineering wife with a subordinate husband Mickey. She is the bread winner and rules at work like she does at home. She also has a strong sex drive and will screw anything that moves. Sounds pretty good, huh? The problem is that as a feature porn movie, it shouldn't start to develop characters only to drop the premise without good reason. Such is the case here. As a movie that clocked in at just under 70 minutes, there really wasn't a lot of time to do much with the story and still have good sex scenes. That's okay but why bother with characters at all unless there's a point to them? The scenes here weren't the best I've seen from Vivid lately but here's a quick breakdown of them by cast:
Scene One: Taylor and Mickey each masturbate a little bit in the kitchen. Not really deep but it sets her character up as well as his relative worth to her.
Scene Two: Taylor and Anton had a scene in a bathroom stall where she gave him a BJ before they moved to a conference room. He reciprocated before they boned with a condom. Moderately warm only because I like Taylor.
Scene Three: Brittney and Evan did the deed on the back porch while Mickey and Taylor watched. Oral and then straight when they took it inside. As with all the scenes, a condom was used. It was okay to watch.
Scene Four: Taylor got it on with a couple of guys in an alley while Mickey watched them. I think the first guy was TJ and the second was Rafe. Mostly oral with a bit of straight. Fair.
Scene Five: This was a gangbang in a warehouse with Cherie and April as the stars. The men included Pat, Steve, Jordan, and Anthony (guy id's are not 100% since none are credited by scene) and Taylor watched the action. It included some anal with the other acts and was pretty good although a few longer shots would've made it look better.
Scene Six: Taylor and Cherie had a lesbian scene that started in the bathroom and ended on a bed. It was the worst looking technically but the warmest scene sexually of the show. Yum!
Summary: If the director (credited as Cleo Edwards but shown as Paul Thomas in the behind the scenes feature) had an idea when he wrote the script, he should've stuck to it or at least had some closure. Having the scenes go on a bit longer or having a few more of them would've been nice to add value too. The technical problems weren't insurmountable but when you get generic extras (other than the BTS feature, they were all weak) and such a short flick, you really aren't getting a lot of fuck for your buck. Worth a Rental for Taylor's fans but it's not her best movie of late.
