The Movie:

Eric Andersson directs this one from 1976 in which a group of people who went to college together all get back together again under some rather unorthodox circumstances to try and figure out a mystery, and at the same time, have lots of cheap, frivolous sex with one another.

Chapter 1 – Hope Stockton And Jeffrey Hurst This is a pretty quick scene that involves Jeffrey eating out Hunt, and then Hunt going down on him. It cuts back and fourth between the sex and some dialogue between the other characters.

Chapter 2 – Christa Anderson And Roger Caine Christ gives Roger a blowjob, then rides him reverse cowgirl style. After that she sucks him off a bit more.

Chapter 3 – Christa Anderson And Annie Sprinkle The girls hang out in the bedroom, take off their clothes, and work Christa's pussy together. Annie lays back and gets more of the same from her friend, and then she gets fucked with a salami sausage (literally) used in place of a dildo.

Chapter 7 – C.J. Laing, Christa Anderson, Hope Stockton, Roger Caine, And Annie Sprinkle Everyone hops into bed for this one as Roger gets treated to some super deluxe seventies porn queen loving! There's plenty of dialogue in this one and aside from the scenes broken down, there are some really quick hardcore moments featuring the main performers in a couple of scenarios but these are so brief and quick that they barely warrant being mentioned. The lesbian sequences definitely go over better in this one than the straight scenes do, though Roger Caine does a fine job of keeping things moving along in his scenes and proves to be able to deliver dialogue as well as money shots.

Now for the bad news - Slippery When Wet is presented in a fullframe transfer sourced from a VHS tape. While the tape was at least in decent shape and the movie is watchable, the image is pretty flat and the colors are faded. There's not a lot of print damage and thankfully there are only a couple of tape rolls here and there, but those expecting the clarity of a film sourced transfer aren't going to be too stoked about the film's appearance on the DVD as the picture is quite fuzzy at times. If you're familiar with some of the more obscure adult film releases that have come out from Something Weird Video or Alpha Blue Archives, then you'll likely be okay with how the movie looks here. At least this they've opted not to brand the image with the Video X Pix logo as they have on past releases. While the transfer is watchable and it could have been worse, it would have been nice to see this one get a proper release – however, I honestly have no idea if proper elements are even still available as a lot of the negatives and prints for this type of material for some reason seems to just disappear. If you grade this one on a curve and stack it against other, harder to find adult features of the same era, it's about on par with that level of quality.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack is a little muffled and not of the best quality, but again, it's taken from a tape source so the limitations of the older technology are going to be there when that's the case. Dialogue is pretty easy to understand, however, and the background music comes through reasonably clear. There aren't a lot of sound effects used in the film, mostly just some random moaning and groaning during the action scenes and these are handled just fine, as are the talkier bits of the movie.

Extras:

While this isn't a star studded super deluxe special edition, if you check out the DVD you will find a trailer for Henri Pachard's A Girl's Best Friend starring Ron Jeremy and Samantha Fox, as well as a slideshow featuring thirty hardcore images from various porn films from the same time period as the feature on this DVD.

Final Thoughts:

While like a lot of porn from the era, the sex scenes are a bit too short and uninvolving, there's a stellar line up of talent in this film. The sex is pretty keen, the girls are hot, and the humor that the movie is laced with is fairy effective. More extras would have been a nice touch, and the transfer could have been better, but Slipper When Wet comes recommended for fans of vintage smut based on the strength of the feature itself.
