Extras: The first disc included the movie and some trailers. The second disc began with a 32:47 minute long non-sex version of the show, a whopping 12:05 minutes of Behind the Scenes footage (interviews), a 50:42 minute set of auditions where potential cast members read lines (making me appreciate those who made the cut), a 25:07 minute non-sex version of the movie, a photogallery, some trailers, and a company promotional reel. There were then three unrelated bonus scenes from previous endeavors including Craving 2, The Perfect Partner, and Stimulant, two detailed below. While it would have been great to have director cuts of the sex scenes from this movie, longer BTS footage, and things of that nature, this was a pretty decent package of extras overall.

Audio/Video Quality: Sleeping Beauty XXX was shot in anamorphic widescreen by director Axel Braun for Wicked Pictures, his new distributor. This is the second in the new “Wicked Fairy Tales” line, using director of photography Eli Cross (videography handled by Axel, Mac Swell, and Jake Jacobs), costume designer Aja De Coudreaux, and Axel’s wife joining him and Claudia Ross as editors to make the show look its best given the porn sized budget. The visual elements looked dark here, befitting the subject matter in most cases, but the energy of the scenes came through in each scene, some compression artifacts observed but the special effects by Level 5 Post were cool enough. The aural components by Seth Cardigan were similarly handled, blending the crisp vocals with the appealing music and occasional ambient sound to give it added depth. The surround sound appeared to be added in post production rather than captured during production that way but it did not weaken the overall end product, the sonic aspects combining with the visual to help tell the story.

Body of Review: Axel Braun is a director riding the wave of his often popular parodies now working with Wicked Pictures, his distribution and directing deal allowing him to helm such big budget releases as the newly released, double disc Sleeping Beauty XXX: An Axel Braun Parody. Unlike the recent re-envisioning by Disney called “Maleficent” that I really did not like at all, Axel takes a darker angle of pornifying the story, again taking the less traveled route of applying a different sort of look at the principles than simply adding sex. Starring Stormy Daniels and Anikka Albright, I thought the show had a lot of potential going into it, the almost obligatory darker ending making me smile far more than the mainstream version did. Now maybe Axel will take it one step further and have a “battle of the bitches” in an original based on both recent flicks, something like “Maleficent vs. Sleeping Beauty” to take advantage of his revisions, now THAT could be epic!

The back cover described the movie like this: “Following the critical and commercial success of "Snow White XXX: An Axel Braun Parody", Wicked Pictures proudly presents another classic fairy tale re-imagined by the legendary director. Featuring rising starlet Anikka Albrite as the doomed princess, and superstar Stormy Daniels in a powerhouse performance as Maleficent, "Sleeping Beauty XXX: An Axel Braun Parody" is a dark, sensual and enticing feature with all the amazing costumes, production values and hot sex that Braun's fans have come to expect from him.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Riley Steele, Claire Robbins, and Casey Calvert, were up first as the three fairies who blessed the newborn, Jay Crew portraying the king who oversaw the event. In this case, that meant they all triple teamed him orally, each taking turns slobbing his knob and nuzzling his nuts after some minimal kissing. Stormy looked oddly appropriate as the dark lead character and Anikka was as smoking hot as ever, the balance between experience and youthful enthusiasm nicely done. While the story elements were truncated too much to tell the story as a standalone feature, the sex was better on average than Axel’s last release in the series, the rating of Recommended a reasonable compromise as a result. In short, Sleeping Beauty XXX: An Axel Braun Parody was another of Axel’s “fractured fairy tales” that fans should find entertaining, the second disc of extras a marked improvement to the majority of his works though fans of pornified fairy tales or Stormy and Anikka should consider this a must have release by any standard.
