Extra's: The best extra, by far, was the inclusion of an 11.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature (it looked like Erik Everhard helmed the camera at least part of the time). While it didn't last long enough for me, I enjoyed seeing the cast getting ready for their scenes and goofing off as it humanized them. There was also a set of trailers, a photogallery and a pop shot compilation but if you think the extras were weak, keep in mind that the main movie lasted longer than average (something most of us prefer anyway).

Audio/Video Quality: Anal Romance was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that it was originally shot in while Steve was filming in Budapest. For the most part, the lighting was solid and the colors accurate so I have little to say about the visual qualities of the movie's scenes other than to say he did a good job. Yes, there were a couple of moments where the shadows got in the way and some grain popped up but they were few and far between. There were also some moments of pixelation from the DVD mastering job but nothing worth fixating on as I'm apt to do when it's bad. The audio was presented in the usual stereo English but the vocals, other than the usual ohhs and ahhs, were minimal with the music saying it all. As a general rule, the audio wasn't all that advanced but it was pretty good if you know what I mean.

Body of Review: Steve Holmes is the latest director at Platinum X Pictures, a company known for providing slightly kinkier than average gonzo with lots of fuck for the buck. Steve is known as a gentleman throughout the porn world and it should come as no surprise that his latest movie is Anal Romance since Steve tends to be more caring than most porn studs but also likes to tap the ass in his scenes. There were only five scenes this time but each was longer than average and the women were often drop dead gorgeous. If you want to see a lot of serious fucking with plenty of anal antics, you're going to want to check this one out pronto. Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that most of the female cast was fairly new to porn:

Scene One: Kathy, a curvy blonde with short hair, was up first as she walked the streets in a tight pink dress and flashed the camera. She has fabulously clear eyes and a nice smile so I was sure that Steve would be the one performing with her in the scene (he's the director and gets first dibs; and I was right!). They met at a small street café and took her back to his place for her first anal scene. They kissed once before his more aggressive instincts kicked in and made him go down on her (much to her pleasure) but only for a second since she wanted his clothes off too. She inhaled his penis with a bit of care and he was tapping that sweet ass in mere moments. He then did some vaginal and they mixed it up a bit as they screwed with abandon. He then went down on her again, spending more time now that she was warmed up with her own juices, and her response was very positive. It ended with a pop shot to her lovely face and showed some serious chemistry.

Scene Two: Angelina, looking better than she has of late, walked down the main street of Budapest in a see through dress, flashing while on a public bench, before coming over to see Erik. She isn't my type of gal as she looked really young and skinny but I have to give her credit for being good at what she does. Erik immediately started sucking her ass and fingering it to open her up for the coming anal; something she took with a smile. They mixed up the action a bit too rather than follow a strict formula (something other companies might want to consider as well) and the ATM was much earlier in the scene this time. She appeared to enjoy the anal sex a lot less than the vaginal but she had a huge gape for fans of that kind of thing. Erik tore into each of her holes as though he was on the bonus plan and the scene was energetic if not filled with chemistry as I prefer.

Scene Three: Trinity, a gal with a curvy body wearing a brightly colored sun dress, walked the streets to get to Steve's place and did a bit of flashing on her own before arriving. Steve was waiting for her on his couch and the two spent no time getting to know one another before he snacked on her crack to wet it enough for plundering (doing some ATM of his own). She then blew him in order to get him rock hard enough to tap her ass and he went right to it when able. Fans of females rimming males will be happy that she also snacked on his crack but the main emphasis was on the screwing he gave her back door. The bad news is that she wasn't all that energetic, preferring to hold on while he did all the work but the good news is that he was up to hammering each of her holes in a rapid fashion so many of you won't care. It ended with the usual facial that she took in her mouth but she looked a bit worn by that part of the scene. With a bit of work, she'd be really hot.

Scene Four: Dora, one of my favorite former Private contract stars, was up next in a field in the afternoon sun wearing (barely) a pink dress as she flashed and teased the camera. She looked a bit too lean this time and I hope she gains back the curves that made her a superstar in Europe as she looked better with the weight (critics will probably suggest she has a drug habit or illness). Regardless, she had a scene with the impressive Franco indoors after opening herself up with a black dildo on a chair. The indoor light was pleasing although not as nice as the outdoor light would've been and he seemed to think her oral skills were just fine as he grew hard in her mouth. He boned her ass slowly as though he were afraid she'd rip open at any moment and the pace grew as his confidence did likewise. She did ATM a lot here and the primary action was in her ass (I liked her pussy myself but that's just me) with her beckoning for him to keep going until he popped in her mouth. It was a very warm scene although not as varied as some of the others in the movie.

Scene Five: Lara, the 21 year old hotty on the front DVD cover and director Steve, took the last scene of the DVD after she teased the camera with her white and pink sun dress. I wanted to see her flash in public too but it wasn't meant to be and with a body like hers, you really won't notice where she was if you catch my drift. I think she's just a nose job away from greatness with a body like that and her sexual skill as solid as I saw here. Their scene was more by the numbers than the others as they did oral on one another before going to the anal. He spanked her a bit and they kept right on hammering away before the large pop shot to her mouth and face. Her energy levels were high and the chemistry between them undeniable as she happily took all he had to offer.

Summary: Anal Romance wasn't big on romance but it had more anal in it than your average Buttman movie with women far hotter to look at as well. I'm going to rate it as Recommended although fans of anal will likely want to increase that rating a notch since the action fulfilled the contract of the title and the one on one style sex seemed to engage the gals on a different level than usual. If you enjoy watching gang bangs and multiple partners, look elsewhere but for straightforward sex involving anal with a little bit of spice added, this was a good way to spend a bit of your time.
