Private Castings 27
Private
Director: Pierre Woodman
Date of Production: 1994-1999
Length: 2 hours 27 minutes
Genre: Behind The Scenes
Cast: Gili Sky, Evelyn, Katia Love, Nicole Thomson, Angelica
Bella, Myrka, Mia Stone
Video/Audio: The video is presented in 1.33:1 full frame
color. The video is a mixed bag of "home cam" type of video with typical Private/Woodman
quality for the more produced scenes. The quality of both vary a great deal
depending on the age and the settings of each "scene". I wouldn't call any
of it great at all, but it's passable. The colors, particularly in the casting
parts of the film are very flat due to the lighting. Audio is also mixed with
most of the stereo soundtrack lacking decent sound.
Extras: Making of, Trailers, Girls Profiles, Production
Notes
The DVD: Private dvd's have basically been the same since
they first started producing them. Easy to navigate menus with nice designs.
The dvd contain several subtitle languages for various languages in case you're
hard of hearing or watch with the volume muted. One thing that needs to be
changed is the lack of chapter breaks within the scenes.
Review: The whole casting DVD weirdness has never been my
thing. Either they are extremely dull or extremely fake. This series is the
one that started it all, as far as I know, and tends to be on the dull side.
When it's able to break the monotony of Pierre interviews girl about sex and
porn, Pierre directs girl as he shoots a movie scene or Pierre taking pictures
of the girl as she holds poses he tells her to get into it is usually Pierre
having sex with the girl. These "good" scenes are very amateurish with, at
the most, two camera angles if your lucky. It's that feel though, that makes
the scene much more enjoyable than all of the others. However, they only put
one on the DVD, so you sit through a bunch of malarkey to get to the one halfway
decent scene.

It's somewhat interesting to see the girls before they get all glammed up
for the movies or photos because some of them make very radical changes in
appearance. Someone who isn't all that attractive in the casting could turn
out to be the hottest woman in the movie after it's all said and done. Sometimes
it's just the opposite with the hottest girl looking rather bad. The answers
given by the ladies are sometimes funny, sometimes boring and sometimes questionable
which makes the interview a little more interesting than watching paint dry.
Some of you maybe thinking, "There has got to be some good scenes on there
that come form the movies.", but you would be wrong. The scenes are different
versions from the ones that show up in the actual movie itself. Pierre does
a whole hell of a lot of talking and "yes, yes" and "move, move, move ali"
stuff that ruins the image on the screen for me.
Overall Thoughts: Why in the world would anyone make another
series just like this for another company? Isn't one enough? Why have they
released so many? These and many other questions popped into my head as I watched
this one. I've yet to come up with an answer. Somewhere out there are people
who love this stuff, but I'm not one of them. These scene belong in the extras
section of the DVD not compiled onto thirty or forty DVDs of just this type
of material.
Well, sir, I didn't like it. I'm willing to bet many other people will find
this to be just as boring as I did. Skip
It.
