Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color and looked well below the standard of quality Evil Angel is known for. The lighting was often either too low, had no filler lighting to balance the scenes out, or relied on the natural light that was not placed properly for the scenes. The result was too much grain and video noise with a ton of mosquito artifacts present when they simply didn't have to be. As often as not, the picture looked like something made ten years ago by amateurs; not what I'd expect of John given his excellent body of work in the past. The audio was also too low in many cases which added to the lower than average quality and no separation between channels was noticed. The dvd transfer was okay given the source material but I expect more from John and Evil Angel.

Body of Review: John Leslie is one of the best-known director's for the awesome Evil Angel. Over the years, the guy has directed, produced, and written a plethora of great movies, which showed talent on all levels, not to mention creativity that a lot of others in his field would be anxious to copy if they better understood him. Needless to say, when he puts out a movie, a lot of fans sit up and wait for the mail to bring their pre-ordered copy. Sadly, this doesn't always work in the favor of his fans. In a rare case of the big-name director making what amounts to a semi-flop, I'll now take a look at Crack Her Jack 1, with a breakdown of the scenes by cast:

Scene One: Angelica, the hot blonde on the lower right of the front dvd cover, Greg, and Nick, had a scene after she masturbated to warm herself up. She did everything you'd expect, including a DP but the sex itself was mostly mechanical in nature. I liked the tease action at the beginning though.

Scene Two: Evelin, Lucie, and the other Lucie, all posed for John and his camera in order to showcase their lovely (and hot) bodies. In short order, Leslie showed up and the action began in earnest. As with the first scene, John was unable to maintain the focus and pointed the camera towards the sun too often, which screwed up the picture. The action wasn't bad but certainly not as hot as the famed director's other works. There was a lot of anal sex here but the women didn't appear to enjoy it which made it pointless for me to watch after a while.

Scene Three: Michelle, wearing a dress that looked ultra hot on her as it showed off her ample ass cheeks, Micky, and Roly, all had a fun scene together. She does all the oral and straight sex you'd anticipate and then the anal with DP comes in but my biggest beef with the show to this point was how John would start talking, barking out orders like Chi Chi LaRue is known for which really bugged me once I consciously figured it out. Maybe if he told them BEFORE a scene what he wanted, it might've worked but not like this. In any case, what could've been a great scene was reduced to fairly warm because of it.

Scene Four: Sandy and Jennifer, two really hot looking babes, did the deed with Zenza and Clark on some lawn chairs. The four paired off and the sex was okay, including a bunch of anal for fans but not the kind of chemistry I've come to expect from John's works. At least the lighting was a bit better this time.

Summary: I was as surprised as anyone with how this movie turned out. The thoughts going through my mind all related to wondering what went wrong here. I could list all the flaws of the production, and triple the length of my review, or I could just figure that it was either rushed or otherwise made without the kinds of quality control that have taken place in the past. Be that as it may, I'm going to suggest this one as worth only a rating of Skip It due to it's poor quality and high cost. Maybe later volumes will be better and maybe I'm being too tough on it because of unrealistic expectations but doesn't everyone expect something good from such a talented director?
