The DVD

Video:

Shot in 1.85.1 anamorphic widescreen, this transfer is a mixed bag in a big way (and here's where the reservations come in). While the framing looks really good and the compositions are really slick, there's so much going on in terms of hot colors and flares that a lot of the detail is completely blown away and some scenes literally look way too washed out. This was a stylistic choice, I'm sure, but it was a poor one. Pornography isn't really all that effective when you can't tell what's happening and that's exactly what the problem is here, too much is washed out and the detail is just missing. Combine this flaring and over lighting with the fact that there's a lot of water falling on the girls and shooting throughout the scenes and you've got what is unfortunately a very problematic image. It's a shame that this happened, as the content here is quite good.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 sound mix is perfectly sufficient and noticeably better than your average porn movie. The instrumental score mixes in with the more modern background music composed for the film and, when played out overtop of the rather sadistic and taunting dialogue, it makes for an experience that borders on the surreal. Everyone who speaks can be hard cleanly and clearly and there aren't any problems with hiss or distortion on this set at all.

Extras:

Aside from the interactive menus and the chapter selection, this release also contains a behind the scenes featurette that gives us some nice footage from the production and a few candid moments. There's some interesting interview footage in here, some shots of the set while there aren't people fucking on them, and some hardcore sex footage from some of the featurette, albeit shot from a different angle or two and without the post production tweaking that seems to have messed up the image. This featurette clocks in at just under nineteen minutes in length and if you've seen any of the other recent Ninn Worx behind the scenes documentaries, you'll know what to expect as this one follows the same formula.

Other than that, the only supplement on this release is a photo gallery but thankfully it's a pretty good one containing roughly eighty still shots, many of which are of the hardcore variety, from the feature spread out over roughly ten minutes and playing out set to music in slide show format.

Final Thoughts:

Well, if you can get past the over-lit picture and the fact that a lot of detail is rendered null and void, Wet Room is pretty sexy stuff. The girls look good, the action is interesting and well choreographed against some slick sets and an nice wardrobe. It's just a shame that the video is messed up, though the image might not bother some as much as it did this reviewer. With that caveat out there, this one makes for a good rental – if you're not too upset over the picture, you might want to pick it up if the content interests you.
