Audio/Video Quality: Black Reign 3 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that most porn is shot in. One of the biggest complaints I've had (and have heard about) with Mercenary Picture releases in the past has been relating to the technical qualities of the scenes. The lighting, grain, and other issues usually seem a bit below par much of the time and this detracts from the heat. In Black Reign 3, the lighting issues were less of a problem so the grain was under control and the only thing that bugged me from time to time was the number of compression artifacts. Each scene seemed to have some, no matter what DVD player I used (I even cleaned the disc) but at least they weren't constant. Otherwise, the camera angles were pretty good, the lighting decent, and the visual content well within the acceptable range. The audio was presented in the typical stereo English with no separation and limited dynamic range but the vocals were okay once the sex started (one scene it was way too low to hear properly and a few others were less than optimal). The droning music in between scenes could've gone away and the forced promotional CGI for Mercenary Pictures got old after a few times but that shouldn't bug most of you.

Body of Review: Some time ago, the world of porn was blessed to have a new style of black man arrive to show the others how it was done. His name was Lexington Steele; the Dark Prince of porn and he was on a mission to satisfy the masses with his lengthy penis and willing attitude. Having made movies for others and finally wanting to break out on his own in order to get a decent deal, Lex founded his own line of porn, Mercenary Pictures, initially working with Red Light District to release some fine interracial porn like Black Reign 1. Well, years later, I'm finally getting to see another volume in the series, Black Reign 3, a worthy title in the Lex library of finer things, as directed by Domina X. If you like seeing some of the curvier black gals in the jizz bizz take on all comers, this will be a DVD you'll need to check out, and here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action for those wanting to know more:

Scene One: Jada, the gal sitting down on the front DVD cover wearing the white outfit and "hot sex" necklace, was first up; introducing herself as "goddess fire" as she wore her red PVC outfit, fishnet stockings and brandished a riding crop outside by a fountain. If you like your gals thick, she'll be on your list of hotties as she was built for comfort and not for speed. Summary: Black Reign 3 was well worth a rating of Recommended for fans of black women having fun in front of the cameras. The men were all suitably talented too and the production qualities were better than I'm used to from a gonzo interracial flick. One of the biggest things holding back more mainstream (at least in terms of porn mainstream) acceptance of black women in porn has been the lack of attractive gals willing to make such movies. Black Reign 3 seemed to have its share of gals with questionable facial looks but certainly not in terms of their curves and attitude. If the series can live up to this release and others I watched this week, I think Lex will have proven he's sitting on a gold mine. I wish him well in that goal since I think black gals have a lot more to offer the porn world than some companies seem to think (although fewer tattoos, less razor stubble, and more attractive faces wouldn't hurt either).
