Audio/Video Quality: Girls Just Want to Have Fun was presented in the industry standard 1.33:1 full frame color as shot by director Rico Suave for Combat Zone. The lighting was varied so some scenes looked substantially better than others, a few having a lot more color saturation than others as well as levels of grain I wouldn't brag about. Still, the composition of the scenes tended to favorably enhance the looks of the ladies as best could be expected, the bitrate clocking in around the lower 5 Mbps range much of the time (though not always). The camera movement led me to believe that someone else held the camera a few times but whatever the reasons; it was not a poorly shot bit of gonzo fluff by any means (though the transfer could have been better). The audio was a bit less appealing as the 2.0 Dolby Digital English movie showed the usual 192 Kbps bitrate with no separation, limited dynamic range, and a droning musical score at the beginning of each scene that disappeared in no time (thankfully enough). Still, I could hear the voices of the cast, along with background noises, so your mileage may vary considerably but they were hollow and whatever exactly was said did not involve much of the heated dirty talking I enjoy so much. Also, for those who care, there was a Spanish language track dubbed for the action; though its value was questionable.

Body of Review: Rico Suave is a gay male performer now given the chance to direct lesbian flicks for Combat Zone. Having seen a number of decent efforts by gay men directing for a completely different audience, I was willing to see if he was another worthy of showing that directing ability can transcend sexual orientation when I was sent Girls Just Want to Have Fun recently. The movie was a series of five lesbian scenes that had Stacy Silver as a focal point, with relatively generic action but a wealth of attractive foreign gals doing each other so I sat down to share my observations in this review. If that sounds like something you’d care to hear about, here’s a brief description of the action that notes a complete lack of population pudding and condoms:

Scene One: Stacy Silver, Carol, and Morgan, were up first in a generic room with a hot tub in it. They did not say much (so why the dubbed language track in Spanish?) but went right to feeling each other up. They did some oral on each other as they progressed but the use of toys and tongues struck me as quite mechanical. With no real chemistry and the trio of twat providing a hardcore version of a bachelor party lesbian act; I found it slightly strokable more because it was the first fuck flick I watched in almost two weeks, barely recovering (still on the mend) from being sick with Vegas crud. The plentiful toys, face sitting, and continual rubbing by the admittedly attractive ladies was okay if limited and if any of them really climaxed, they did so secretly as far as I could tell.

Scene Two: Yassica, Zoe, and Stacy Silver, were up next as they began with a duet and expanded to a trio that seemed a lot like the last scene but on a brown leather couch. Stacey only played on an intermittent basis with them, introducing toys for example, but the licking, rubbing, and other lesbian play was similar to the first scene in most ways. Lesbian anal sex was highlighted yet again and like the other ladies used in the movie, they were better as eye candy than truly heated performers.

Scene Three: Lorren, Violet, and Stacy Silver, were up next in a small bed as Stacy took charge of initiating the sexual conduct. The lingerie enhanced their looks and the first two gals continually looked at the camera while Stacy focused most of her efforts on them. Sexually, it was the same kind of dynamic at play with rubbing, titty play, eating each other out, and inserting fingers before toys in various openings (with taste testing mind you) but Stacy must have been the director’s pet again since she was off camera more than in the scene; the ladies showing a slight bit more interest in each other than the camera but not enough to merit special consideration.

Scene Four: Jennifer Max, Anita Queen, Ellen, and Stacy Silver, were then up by a series of bar stools that led to them moving the act to a large couch in the living room. While I wasn’t exactly bored by this point, the action was so generic as to make me wonder who thought this was a great idea in the first place. Had any of the ladies displayed any personality or passion for what was taking place, I would have probably dropped dead on the spot but the kissing, rubbing, eating, and toy use carried forth the traditions from the previous scenes. Even Stacy ducked out again and the lack of tease was irritating to me as were the sly glances to the camera while the gals diddled themselves and their partners so mechanically.

Scene Five: Angel Dark, a beautiful brunette, and Stacy Silver, the blond from the previous scenes, were up last by the fireplace wearing sexy little outfits that truly looked good on them. Whoever really made this movie, I could not have asked for better looking gals and in this final scene, it struck me that the gals seemed to be into one another a fair amount more than the rest of the movie. There was also a bit more playfulness between them as they went through the same motions while on the floor; even the moaning louder as they went at one another. Ending the movie on a relative high note made sense but of all the scenes that should have been longer, this was it and I wanted more, a lot more, to enjoy before it faded out to a montage of sexual clips.

Summary: Girls Just Want to Have Fun by director Rico Suave for Combat Zone was fairly weak in terms of providing heated fuck for the buck. There were no meaningful extras, the camera work was a bit sloppy, and the transfer seemed to have problems but the biggest issue of all was clearly the way the ladies were going through the motions as if gay for pay; never inspiring me to really whip out my pecker to start pounding pud. The last scene was the best of the lot and even it was hampered by this dynamic so I felt the most appropriate rating to give the movie was a Skip It. In short, Girls Just Want to Have Fun wasn’t bad lesbian action so much as it was boring lesbian action; few of the pairings showing even the hint of passion, heat, energy, chemistry, or the kind of sparks better domestic titles have offered for years.
