I'm usually quite taken with foreign titles released on Wicked DVD, especially those that star blonde beauty Meridian. But it is my sad duty to report that as a foreign title, Between the Lines is only average for an adult movie.

Part of the problem lies with the director, credited as Richard Mailer, who chooses to shoot two scenes in a pinkish tone, while another one is filmed in black and white. All of these are "fantasy" sequences, which is probably why the director made this choice, but I couldn't help but wish these were in color so I could get more enjoyment out of them.

The plot of the film focuses on Meridian, who is a writer, but stuck at home in an apparently loveless marriage where all that hubby does is sit in front of the TV, drink beer, and have Meridian as his household slave. So Meridian escapes this existence by punching out stories on her typewriter of sexual fantasies.

The first such sexual fantasy takes place in Rome around 400 A.D. and is an orgy sequence featuring Julian St. Jox and other guys and girls whom I could not identify. This is one of the two scenes filmed in a pinkish tone, and it takes away from a lot of the appeal. There is some underwater sex that looks really cool, including one lady giving a guy an underwater blowjob that made me wonder where she was getting oxygen from!

Meridian's next fantasy is set during wartime and has a couple of female soldiers seducing another male soldier. This isn't quite as hot as it sounds, and the climax from the guy is kind of a letdown, as instead of spurting a solid load (as most guys do) he seems to explode with a bunch of little streams, almost as if his cock had more than one exit (kind of like what water coming out of a shower head looks like!)! The result is a cumshot that weakly splashes all over the place, and manages to miss both ladies' faces, even though they are quite close to him.

After a quick blowjob-only sequence with Meridian and her husband (of which there is no climax), it's off to another fantasy that has Meridian in a bondage dungeon while two guys have their way with her. This is actually one of the better sequences in the film, as Meridian gets double penetrated and then both guys jerk off onto her face.

The next fantasy sequence is the one filmed in black and white, and features a very cute girl named Monika getting it on with a guy. This scene would have been very hot if shown in color, and is still not bad in black and white. Monika gets doggy, reverse cowgirl and missionary penetration, followed by a very nice cumshot that, once again, I wish I could have watched in color!

Meridian's husband finally gets his lazy butt off the couch and takes his wife out to dinner at a friend's house. But hubby is far more interested in his pal's wife than he is his own, so Meridian leaves the room and then fantasizes about her husband and his buddy going to town with the young woman...while Meridian watches and helps out! The most erotic part of this scene is watching Meridian helping insert the guys' cocks into the young woman, and when she helps jerk them off into the girl's face at the end of the scene!

In the next to last scene, Meridian imagines having a picnic with another young girl and making out with her. Fans of fruit insertion won't want to miss the very end of this coupling, as both girls masturbate with a banana!

The final scene is the second one that is filmed with a pinkish hue and has Meridian fantasizing about her and her husband in what looks to be a turn-of-the-century setting. There's some anal action in the missionary and reverse cowgirl positions (Meridian fingers her pussy while in the latter position) and the last scene concludes with the husband jerking off onto her face.

For a Wicked DVD, there are not that many extras on this disc, but viewers will be treated to some slide shows, an audio biography for Meridian, eight trailers for other Wicked DVDs and some promotional material for the studio. Both the video and audio are nicely done, but not quite up to the spectacular standards that can be found on many other Wicked releases.

This one is recommended only for avid Meridian fans.
