Andrew Blake, master of porno chic since his 1989 debut feature, "Night Trips," hasn't changed is M.O. much over the years. The beautiful women may change, but the Madison Avenue-ready technique remains largely the same.

The plotless feature "Body Language" consists of many unrelated sex scenes that are united only by their director's singular style: Stunning, naturally endowed women, either alone or in pairs, fondle and finger themselves and each other, while wearing stiletto heels or high boots or suede gloves. (With the exception of one intense scene, the cunnilingus is tentative at best.)

The ladies are photographed as if they were in an Obsession perfume commercial of old. The film's look changes frequently from lush, soft-focus color to grainy, overexposed black and white. There's no dialogue and no direct sound, just the incessant soundtrack (here by Schema) that mixes New Age, cool jazz and heavy metal lite.

And there Blake's signature move: All the action is in hypnotic slow motion, but with fast edits. It's like Blake is lulling you to sleep, then snapping his fingers in your face every few moments.

Oh, and let's not forget the urination. The Penthouse (pe)ethos is frequently at play here, and we gotta admit, seeing a 10 copiously relieve herself while smiling at the camera gets us all warm with being witness to the verboten.

Penthouse Pet Ginger Jolie kicks off the action (and reappears throughout, as do several of the girls) with a mind-blowing masturbation/urination sequence. It's not quite downhill from there, but Jolie does set the bar rather high. While a few scenes feature a man's hands fondling or gently slapping a girl, there's only one bona-fide boner on view, and it does get sucked and fucked. And, alas, not by Ms. Jolie.

THE DVD

The feature itself is nicely presented in 16:9 widescreen, with 5.1 surround sound. But the two-sided disc is merely functional. Side A has a main menu (with a still photo) offering just Play Movie and Chapters. Each of the feature's 24 scenes is its own chapter; some are 15 minutes or longer, others are a mere minute or two, and most of them blend into each other smoothly.

Scenes have titles like "Masturbation," "Mini-Skirt," "Boobs," "Underarms" (featuring hairy pits) and "Sleazy Motel" (that's where popular and very busy porn cutie Charlie Laine resides).

Side B consists of the "extras," which are simply six additional scenes done in the same manner with the same girls, totaling 27 minutes.

LAST WORD

In an adult universe where the crude gonzo home video seems to have taken over completely, it's nice to see that old-fashioned, high-end art porn is still out there. Even if Andrew Blake is about the only one making it. Blake's beauties here are among the sexiest, long-leggiest creatures around, and while the disc leaves something to be desired, it can still call forth from the distant past of the most jaded sex viewer that thrilling thought: I cannot believe these stunning women are doing this on camera.
