Adult films generally fall into two catagories - plot-driven films mixed with sex, or all-out hardcore pictures where the sex is the main focus. While I've never been terribly interested in story-driven adult pictures, this one actually worked fairly well. Still, those looking for constant sex will likely be rather disapointed.

The film stars Devon, one of the cutest adult film actresses I've seen. The picture opens with Devon going on all sorts of casting calls and either not getting the part or running into directors whose auditions take place on the casting couch. The only job she manages is an ad for itch relief cream. She comes home to her boyfriend (played by Barrett B.) and tells him about her problems. He suggests take-out pizza and a movie, but the two quickly hop into bed before any calls can be made. The scene that follows - some fairly brief foreplay, followed by Devon getting taken in various positions - is pretty good in general, but it would have been better if not for the music. The one thing that would have made all of the scenes in this film improved is if the score had been removed. The music not only overpowers the moaning and groaning, but it - combined with an attempt at a rather "glossy" look - makes some of the scenes feel rather staged.

The next scene offers some surprises. Devon folds laundry with her friend (played by Ginger Lynn) and talks to her about needing money. She's surprised to learn that her friend has been a dancer (we see Devon watch her at the club in the next scene) for a while now. Devon isn't bad in the scene, but I was really surprised by Ginger Lynn. Her performance in this scene is really convincing and one of the stronger performances I've seen in a story-driven adult picture in recent memory.

The next scene involves Monica Sweetheart and Herschel Savage. 20-year-old Czech beauty Monica is stunning in this scene, as not only does she look incredibly attractive, but jumps into the scene with great energy and enthusiasm as the two go at it in doggy-style and other positions. Of course, it's not long before Devon's character has become a dancer herself and it's high praise for Devon's dancing skills that her solo scene as a dancer is one of the hotter scenes on the program - it's even better than her first sex scene in the movie. While she seems rather sweet and cute, she really commands the stage wonderfully and practically drips sex in this scene.

The film's three girl-on-girl scenes are very good, if maybe not the best girl-on-girl moments I've seen lately. The first is in a bathroom between Nikita Kash and Monica Mayhem, while the second and third ones are between Devon and Daniella Rush (very hot and erotic) on a bar and Devon and Holly Hollywood. Last, but not least, Devon takes on Julian in the bedroom.

"Devon Stripped" does portray the story fairly well, with Ginger Lynn's performance being particularly good. Devon, Ginger Lynn and the other girls look great, too. However, the sex is on the fairly mild side and while the performances are fine, the music should have gone and the scenes filmed and edited in a bit more straightforward fashion. Not bad though, and couples may find this a good one to watch together.

VIDEO: "Devon Stripped" gets a nice presentation from Digital Playground. The picture seems to intentionally look rather soft, but detail is still present and the picture looks at least passably crisp. Colors are rather subdued, but still crisp and well-rendered.

SOUND: The soundtrack is in 5.1, but it's a rather annoying track. The music is presented at a considerably higher volume than the film audio, making it hard to hear anything the performers are saying.

EXTRAS: Viewers are also treated to several supplements. There's an 11 1/2 minute behind-the scenes clip, a couple of audition tapes (Monica Sweetheart, Barrett B and Devon auditioning for their roles.), some funny bloopers, a couple of audio outtakes, the trailer, slide-show, bios and last, but certainly not least, an audio commentary from director Nic Andrews, Devon, Barrett B. and Ginger Lynn.

Overall: Those looking for a "couples" video to watch should think about looking into "Devon Stripped". While there are some faults (that music!), it offers a pretty decent story and good scenes. Digital Playground has also put together a fine DVD, with solid audio/video and supplements.
