The Movie:

Is there anything more arousing for a man than being privy to a beautiful woman pleasuring herself? Probably not. Be it with some help from a toy or two or au natural using only fingers, it's always a steamy affair to see a girl get down with her bad self.

I know I'm not alone in this train of thought, because porn director extraordinaire Michael Ninn agrees with me. He must. Why else would he have directed Soloerotica 5? It's the latest compilation of solo scenes from Ninnworx, brought to you from Pure Play, who seem to be putting out some of the most interesting porn out there these days.

Rather than do the traditional porn review and give you a scene by scene breakdown of how it all happens, I'm going to take a different approach and just cover some of the highlights to give you a feel for the movie, because let's face it, each of the twenty scenes involves a woman pleasuring herself and it would be dull to read what would essentially be the same scene description over and over again twenty times, and it would be just as dull to have to write it.

Those familiar with Michael Ninn's fantastic body of work know he's renowned for bringing a bit of an artistic flair into his oddly clinical and at times, almost industrial, world of porn. Whereas other directors would just zoom in on a woman's box and film her fucking her self, Ninn photographs his subjects from a wide variety of different angles – some less orthodox than others. Rather than just zoom in on his subjects crotches, he pans around, over, and under the girls as they do their thing, with some unusual but moody lighting allows the camera to view them in the myriad of exotic locales in which they play their game.

As usual, Ninn's film tends towards the fetishistic (as evidenced in the final scene by Lynn Thomas' thigh high vinyl boots, or in Nautica's chapter in which she very aggressively fingers her ass). Most of the girls are in some form of lingerie, and more often than not that involves some thigh high black stockings. The girls are shot in-doors and outside, in locales that range from the posh interior of a Victorian mansion to a leather couch in an office to a simple windowsill gazing outside.

The cast has just as much variety to it as the settings and set pieces do. Anais, Justine, Nautica, Katsumi (who uses some foxy velvet gloves on herself), Olivia Del Rio, Georgia Adair, Nikita Denise, Angel Cassidy, Monica Daniels, Judith Bodor, Erica Vachs, Teanna Kai, Mia Smiles, Dominica Leoni, Rayveness, Kenzie Ryan, Laura Capri, Jesse V., Anna Karin and gorgeous cover model Lynn Thomas all masturbate in a myriad of creative and functional ways for the lens. The cast covers many of the bases – blondes, redheads, brunettes, and raven-haired beauties are all here. There are Mediterranean girls, Asian girls, white girls and crème colored European beauties, some of whom look warm an inviting when caught in the act, while others give off a bitchy dominatrix like vibe as they go about their business.

Most of the film is without dialogue or sex sounds – it's simply the visuals set to music. This may sound like an odd idea, but it works in the context of the visuals. Ninn let's just enough moaning and groaning into the mix to let you know what's going on without bombarding you with it. Certain scenes have more of it than others but it's a nice mix of full on sex sounds and ambient background music.

The DVD

Video:

While the image was obviously captured on video and not on film, the overall clarity of the picture is quite good thanks to a decent authoring job and some hard work on the part of the lighting technicians. Colors are quite bold, black levels remain strong, and except where altered intentionally for artistic reasons, skin tones look lifelike and natural. There are a few spots where some mpeg compression is obvious, as well as some mild edge enhancement, but these aren't serious problems and overall this movie looks good.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround mix comes through loud and clear. As mentioned earlier, there is no dialogue in this film, just some sex noises and background music, both of which are mixed properly and balanced in such a way as to perfectly combine both tracks into one tripped out dreamy and atmospheric soundscape.

Extras:

The two extra features on this DVD are an extensive still gallery of over eighty images, and a behind the scenes segment that clocks in at just over seventeen minutes. This is a nice documentary that not only shows some of the girls in a more casual environment, getting their thoughts on their work and their career, but also features some different footage that didn't make it into the final cut of the feature presentation. We get a look at a few of the photo shoots, some of the locations, and a few of the girls getting ready to go to work.

Final Thoughts:

Soloerotica 5 is a masturbation video that only Michael Ninn could bring you. It's fetishistic, artistic yet very explicit, and quite simply, hot. Each and every one of the girls is top caliber in the looks department, and they do give their all in these twenty brief solo scenes. Highly Recommended.
