Extra's: The extras for the DVD set were the usual number of trailers, photogalleries, production notes (one for each movie), various subtitles and languages, and four of their Behind the Scenes Reports (each lasting between 10 and 20 minutes). In all, the sheer volume of the material on the five movies was enough to warrant purchase but the extras did manage to sweeten the deal a bit more. The DVD case itself was the accordion style case rather than Private's newer thin case or the original cases they came in (though the front covers were displayed on the folding sides of the case, sans writing at that).

Audio/Video Quality: The five feature movies that comprise the Matador Series Vol. 3 set were all recorded in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that most Private movies several years ago were made in. In terms of picture quality, the images were almost always very sharp and well defined with a crystal clear focus that looks better than a lot of contemporary porn shot today (keep in mind that 4 years is practically a generation in terms of technical values in porn). The colors were accurate, the settings very nice (I liked the mountains a lot but even the most limited movie had a pleasant background), and the composition of the various camera angles especially well done with most of them complimenting the cast nicely. There was precious little grain, no compression artifacts that I saw, and almost no moiré and video noise to speak of. The audio was presented in stereo but the English language track was dubbed most of the time and the company could take some advice from various anime companies on how to do it right. Thankfully, this is porn so what they said wasn't so important as how they screwed on camera but I'm glad that Private has gotten a lot better in this regard over the last five years. The channels had little separation, there was little dynamic range, and the overall audio experience was a bit weaker than I prefer to hear.

Review: Private is certainly one of the powerhouses of porn worldwide, perhaps even more so now that they've teamed up with Pure Play Media as their American distributor. One of the company's strengths has long been the large number of beautiful women they get with another being the production values displayed in many of their high budget features. Back in the late 1990's and early 2000's, they released a series of features by director Jean Yves LeCastel known as the Matador brand, totally fifteen releases in all. Now that Pure Play Media is helping the company sell their movies, there seems to be a willingness to release various titles as boxed sets and this review concerns the third and final release in the mentioned series, The Matador Series Vol. 3.

The movies themselves all had a light plot, anal sex in every scene, and attractive women of all sorts engaging in adult activity. The acting (and plots) was disposably bad in most cases but the sex itself had a lot to offer in the 30 scenes for fans of hardcore boning. DP's were regularly featured, anal a given, and some of the gals were among the world's best cocksuckers, not to mention really into their performances. Rather than provide a virtual screenplay of the sex acts, suffice it to say that a few gals stood out with even the worst here being pretty good at what she did. I really enjoyed seeing a young Rita Faltoyano in action (she still looks great to me), just as Gina, Betty, and Vanessa showed why they were regulars in the Private line ups. Watching nearly ten hours of porn tends to drain a guy and the Matador series always seemed to offer something a bit above average for Private; from the sex itself to the playful manner in which the cast teased at times, you'll be using this one for months if you so choose.

The discs were the same as those released separately several years ago but the DVD mastering job wasn't bad for the most part. As much as I'd have preferred seeing some cleaning up on a few scenes, I sure wouldn't want to pay for it considering how solid this one looked in most cases. If you've enjoyed Private's older DVD's or just like hardcore sex with attractive women showing how few limits they have, you'll think this set is worth a rating of Highly Recommended as much as I did. Some of these scenes have been used in various Private compilations and the reasoning must relate to the fact that they were simply that good (the best that come to mind involved Rita, whom I admittedly like seeing screw, walk around in jeans, or just about anything else) but there were a few weaker scenes too. For the most part, if you don't like a scene, you can skip it and never miss it since there were about thirty (I stopped counting by the fourth disc but there was at least that many) to choose from.

Summary: The Matador Series Vol. 3 was a very nice set of movies and at a great price too. I guess the first two sets were equally solid but that's just a guess since I didn't see them. This one had a great set of casts, lots of fuck for the buck, and high end production values so if you like the kind of movie Private offers, you'll like this one a whole lot. The plots of the five movies were all pretty weak but with gals like those listed above having some energetic, if limited in chemistry at times, scenes, I think this is one more feather in Private's cap for their current compilation frenzy. From the sex in the skiing adventure Avalanche II, to the psychological aspects of Anal Psycho-Analysis, and the other (somewhat lesser) stories, this DVD set had a tremendous amount of value for fans of foreign porn.
