The Movie:

The back of the packaging states that 'Fem Sonata is the tempo of women loving women' and that's an interesting way to describe this all girl feature from director Michael Ninn. Set to various instrumental scores that compliment the action and the locations in which it all takes place, the film is a carefully shot exploration of lesbians at play. As is typical with Ninn's work, the camera angles, sets, costumes, music and scenarios have a much more obvious artistic slant to them, which lends the movie a much more sophisticated tone than most modern pornography is able to achieve.

Chapter 1 – Wanda Curtis And Britney Skye: Wanda starts things off by stripping out of her tight latex outfit and fingering herself until she comes. From here, the camera cuts to Britney who, in similar fashion, decides it's time for a little self-love, complete with some sexy thigh high black vinyl boots. Once she's finished herself off, the two girls work each other up and down and all over. Each one goes down on the other and soon they break out a dildo and use it on one another. Set in a loft style apartment and dimly lit, it's a pretty intense scene with a lot of moaning and groaning which adds to the steam that comes off of these two gals as they go at it.

Chapter 2 – Jenaveve Joli And Anais : In one of the coolest sets I've ever seen in a porn film, Ms. Joli starts things off by masturbating in an aquarium in front of one of the bigger fish tanks. She brings herself to a climax, then Anais does the same thing – fingers herself in front of a giant fish tank. The camera goes back and forth between the two girls until the crawl across a giant boardroom table towards one another. Once they meet, they begin to kiss and slowly start to fuck each other silly. Both of the girls are obviously have fun with one another and seem to be having a good time. Soon they bust out a big aqua colored dildo and use it on one another until they've both come to a loud and aggressive climax. It worked for me.

Chapter 3 – Holly Morgan And Terri Summers:Inside what looks like some sort of gothic cathedral, each of the girls is clad in a very formal gown. The DVD

Video:

This shot on digital video production looks pretty clean. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots but otherwise and a little bit of mpeg compression evident in some of the darker colors and the blacks. The image is presented in anamorphic widescreen at approximately 1.85.1 (except for the last two scenes which for some reason are fullframe)and overall the image is strong, stable and colorful. Skin tones look nice and natural, and there is no print damage.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. There isn't any dialogue really, just moans and groans. The women don't really talk to each other much aside from the occasional 'Oh God!' or 'Fuck me' type comments. The background music has some nice punch to it and it comes through the speakers loud and clear..</

Extras:

In addition to a still gallery featuring shots of the girls in action, Ninn Worx has also supplied a behind the scenes featurette. This segment runs almost twenty minutes and not only features candid and making of footage with the girls all doing their thing, it's also got some interviews with the performers who give some brief and basic biographical information on themselves. It's interesting to see the sets when they're not lit like they are on camera to see how they differ from the final version of the film, and it's fun to check out the girls having a good time with one another even when the cameras aren't rolling.

Final Thoughts:

Fem Sonata is pretty steamy stuff. Ninn does a nice job directing the sex with an obvious artistic flair, and the girls are all wonderfully hot – each and every one of them. While the disc is light on extras the anamorphic widescreen video was a nice touch and the audio is also handled quite nicely. Overall, if you're into girl on girl action, this one is well worth your money. Recommended.
