A Ninn Worx Project, Fem Bella is a girls-only film that's very much in the tradition of Andrew Blake's later efforts—sensuous imagery often presented in slow motion, with pulsing, jazzy scores, and with a focus on the striptease. As with Blake, you get gorgeous, glamorous girls in high-class settings. You get expensive-looking toys and S&M-flavored wardrobe. The difference with this Ninn Worx production is that you're more likely to get hardcore shots of cunnilingus and insertion. Although there are scenes of slow-mo masturbation, there are also some absolutely delicious scenes of lesbian sex. The downside is that some of these scenes are downright irritating in their spastic editing and MTV-style imagery.

Scene 1

The first scene begins with a long striptease, moving to a pouty masturbation episode in what appears to be the living room of a very expensive home. The brunette fingers herself for quite a long time, giving us sultry glances. Then the action shifts to another, darker brunette, in several different poses, and here's where the pace of the editing practically provoked an ADD meltdown in this reviewer. This brunette also ends up fingering herself, and I became quite aroused by her beautiful breasts and nipples. Grade: B-

Scene 2

This scene is notable for a few reasons. First, its music alone is enough to get you aroused. It's a slow, jazzy riff with a woman's breathy moans as a rhythm. Second, it's a very memorable lesbian encounter on a stairwell. It's a slow scene, but that only serves the buildup of passion. They gradually remove each other's clothing, then proceed to finger and lick each other, mostly while standing, with a nice intensity. Grade: A

Scene 3

This scene takes place outdoors, in and around a pool. Three women are gradually introduced, and each goes through a slow striptease and masturbation routine. I don't want to make that sound trivial, because they're quite erotic—these are some finely sculpted bodies. After a while, the girls meet at poolside and start doing nasty things to each other. While one plays with herself in the pool, the other two entwine together atop a lounge chair. What I like most about these scenes is that they rely mostly on deep kisses and slathering tongues to achieve their effect. There's little need for toys or other such devices, although some creative ones do crop up, as in this scene. Grade: A

Scene 4

Here's a scene that structured similarly to Scene 3. An interestingly dressed blonde and a writhing brunette are introduced separately, as they're in the throes of self-pleasure. Then, they're brought together to enjoy some excellent kissing and touching. The sex takes place on a bed, with lots of cunny-lapping and fingering. Later, we get some toyplay on a couch, along with some dirty talk that seems out of place for the style of the production. I did appreciate that these women were completely nude, save for their high heels. Grade: B

Scene 5

Now we get more intrusive "style" in the form of jumpcuts and black-and-white photography and disorienting editing, but we meet two rather energetic brunettes who seem to enjoy playing with themselves in front of a big-screen TV. Soon enough, they start touching each other, and damn! I can't get enough of these extremely fine kisses! When the sex begins in earnest, color photography takes over, and a glass dildo enters the picture, followed by some rear-entry cunnilingus. Grade: B

Scene 6

More spastic editing, as well as quick zooms and flashes, and my brain is starting to hurt. Can we just get on with the sex, please? Here are three lovely lasses costumed up as angels, and if you fast forward for 5 minutes or so—past the teasing and sucking of fingers—you'll come to the meat of the scene, which finds the three writhing all over each other in a foggy outdoor setting. There's lots of fingering, and lots of scream-moans, and some quite-great cunnilingus. Nice, acrobatic positioning. Grade: B-

VIDEO/AUDIO PRESENTATION

This is a full-frame presentation that is somewhat disappointing for its softness. The director seems to have used a softening filter, and sometimes you want to see more detail in even the close-ups. Colors, however, are quite good. The audio presentation shines, even though it's merely a stereo mix. The low end is powerful, coming through primarily in the energetic score.

EXTRAS

The disc gives you a 28-minute Behind the Scenes featurette that is shot in a style that's very similar to that of the feature—that is, it's sometimes annoying, but it is also rewarding. A lot of it is footage from the feature, interspersed with shots of the filming and of cameras getting in close to the action. There are also many funny moments, as girls wink for the cameras and goof off. Later, there's some interview footage that's mildly amusing.
