Extra's: The only extras here were some trailers, a photogallery, some biographies and some spam. This certainly was a let down considering it was one of Adam & Eve's Premium Collection at the time.

Audio/Video Quality: The video varied quite a bit due to the nature of the
movie. Much of it is set at night and we all know how that impacts most
videotapes footage. Some of the night scenes have a fair amount of grain,
video noise, and over saturated colors. The scenes that take place during
the day or in well lit areas tend to look a lot better. The vocal track is
pretty consistent with only minor echoes. The music varied a lot more than
is usual for an Adam & Eve production. By this I mean that the styles of
music represented here were not what you normally hear in a porno. Most of
the selections fit in with the movie although a few were not quite right.

Body of Review: I've long appreciated the feature porno in my viewing diet as a well done feature can add to the couples appeal of a flick if done properly. Such was the case for an interesting little movie by director Bud Lee years back called Carnal Witness, a takeoff on a number of mainstream releases. Here's what I said years ago about the movie: "The movie centers on a young psychic who is having disturbing sexual dreams. The dreams are causing her a lot of concern and she is afraid that they may be tied in with a slain killer. I won't reveal the whole story except to say that the movie was more creative than to just
mimic one of the crummy horror movies we've probably all seen or heard of. The psychic is played by the lovely Cheyenne who gets help from new neighbor, Nina. Along the way, we meet Randy, the rugged police detective, Herschel, a plastic surgeon with a cheating wife, and a weird assortment of other characters. There are 6 sex scenes and the action, with the exception of Chloe's scene, is very couples friendly."

Scene One: TJ Hart, the cheating wife, is screwing Chris Cannon on a bed. They both give oral to one another before getting down to business. The music didn't seem
to fit here as well as the other scenes but it wasn't bad. She had a few
minor blemishes on her ass but was otherwise cute. The scene was warm.

Scene Two: Nina Hartley, Chris Cannon, and Allysin Chaynes have a great time in a jacuzzi. I liked this scene almost as much as Chloe's scene as it was fun and very warm.

Scene Three: Cheyenne Silver and Nina Hartley get busy in the kitchen. I don't mean baking cookies either. I first saw this scene in Adam & Eve Signature Series 4: Cheyenne Silver and liked it but didn't like how short it was. It was a nice contrast between the youthful Cheyenne and the experienced Nina though.

Scene Four: TJ Hart and her husband in the movie, Herschel Savage, have sex in the living room. She was cute and it's easy to see why she was cheating on him in the earlier scene. I found this to be the weakest scene and it wasn't bad.

Scene Five: Chloe, out to get Chris, screws him on Herschel's bed. Both men
enjoy her over the top performance in the hardest scene of the movie. If you
like her previous work, you'll like her here. It was my favorite scene of the movie.

Scene Six: Cheyenne properly thanks Randy Spears for all his help. I saw this scene in the previously mentioned compilation and really liked it as a great
couple's scene. My opinion hasn't changed.

Summary: Carnal Witness was a pretty darned good movie that I recall saying this about: "I liked this couple's movie a fair amount. Some of the technical
stuff, lighting, editing, and camera work might've been a bit tighter but
overall Bud did a good job in this above average porn movie. I thought the
acting and plot were pretty good and the sex was warm enough to recommend. I
should warn you that I'm a fan of Nina, Cheyenne, and Chloe, so others may
not like it quite as much but it does have plenty to offer. I wish
there had been better extra's-the movie is billed as one of Adam & Eve's
Premium line which has had, from time to time, some really nice extra's-but
the feature itself was good enough to overlook this problem this time." I watched this recently and still liked it so it held up fairly well considering the age of the release but it won't appeal to everyone so you might want to Rent It first just to make sure it's a movie you can live with for as long as I have.

I also remembered spelling it out for Adam & Eve (who's production manager at the time was less than enthusiastic about seeing in print if you catch my drift): "Note to Adam & Eve: I wonder if the editor had an extra few days to work
with the footage if it would have helped make this one a bit better. I hope
Bud works on his night shooting too as he's done better before. Add some
extra's on your Premium stuff in the future for a better value. Thanks!"

This Don Houston "retro-review" was written long ago before the so-called Professor of Porn had much experience writing reviews. Since that time, he has found Adam & Eve to have a lot of good releases and seen more porn than almost anyone reviewing on the internet. Keep in mind that his comments accurately reflected his fresh viewpoint of the time he first saw the movie.
