Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that the scenes were shot in years ago by director Seymore Butts. If you've seen some of his older work, you'll know that lighting, camera angles, composition, and all the other technical matters are not his priorities; only the heat of the scene is important to him. That said, the picture quality here was fairly average for his body of older titles and if you don't like grain, minor video noise and other problems, you might want to stick to his more recent stuff. The audio sounded like monaural that was coded for stereo with no separation between the channels and minimal dynamic range but at least you could hear the cast this time (a common flaw of Seymore's older works). Otherwise, the technical matters weren't a huge factor this time for better or for worse, if that makes any sense to you.

Body of Review: Few would argue that director/performer Seymore Butts was not ahead of his time in terms of promoting the gonzo style porn he is most associated with. For the most part, he comes off like a lovable goofus to fans that probably identify with his offbeat face and sense of style; making him something of a guy next door much of the time. Admittedly, if most of us lived next door to him, we'd be extra nice so as to get in on some of the sexual favors his friends bestow on those around them but that's all scripted from what I understand. The subject of this review is Only The Best of Seymore Butts 4, a compilation of four scenes from the listed movies below. Like most of Seymore's titles from his golden years, the quality varied a lot more than you'll likely read about elsewhere but there was a lot of fun taking place so if you don't mind recycled scenes with nothing new to add to the mix, read the following breakdown of the included scenes to see if this is the compilation for you:

Scene One: A Pool Party At Seymore's Part 2: 1995: Taylor, way back in her prime so many years ago, had a scene on a couch with Steven and Butch. Okay, she was looking very sexy and hot but her looks only tell part of the story. Her sexual skill and desire were the other part and while she seemed to enjoy the action; it wasn't her best work. These three were as professional as ever though so even if the chemistry was lacking, the energy wasn't (only a slavering fanboy would suggest otherwise). The sex included a lot of oral and vaginal but also some anal with a short DP too. Fans of condoms will be pleased to know that the guys both wore them although this was an exception to the rule for a Seymore release.

Scene Two: Seymore & Shane Live On Tour: 1995: Shawna, an attractive gal with a lean body and lengthy brown hair, was a stripper at a club that Shane was dancing at but she wanted to meet Seymore. Shane took charge of the camera rather than join in (sadly enough) but I got the impression that there was some kind of competition between the gals taking place (perhaps it took place off camera though). In any case, Shawna's tan line was hot as her ass and while she wasn't in my top 100 porn performers of all time, I'd have bought a lap dance or two from her. The scene started in the dressing room but went back to the hotel room in no time where the couple sucked and fucked after some spanking. She was energetic and Seymore again wore a rubber but I'm not opposed to them so your mileage will vary. The sex was oral and vaginal only if that matters but I wouldn't mind seeing more of her work.

Scene Three: Big Boobs in Buttsville: 1996: Here's what I said the first time I saw this scene (and I still agree with it). "Kelly and Kymberly were the next two gals to play the porno game here. Neither were really hot looking but they had some measure of skill in the sack (and on the floor) as they took on Ron Jeremy for Seymore. It started out with him trying to trick them out of their clothes and them catching him doing so but ultimately they all had the same type of action you'd expect from a Seymore movie. They blew him, allowed him to suck them off, and then screwed in a number of positions, both vaginally and anally. They did ATM and it ended with a facial but the highlight of the entire scene was the general energy level. Sure, they might've been filler level gals but they were enthusiastic filler gals."

Scene Four: Seymore Butts Meets the Tushy Girls: 1997: Alisha, one of Seymore's favorite gals to work with (a good thing too since she's a hotty), Shanna, one of my all time favorite gals in porn, and Mark, were all ready for action in the bedroom as Seymore commented in his usual style. Shanna was probably the oldest of the bunch (a few years older than Seymore) but easily the better of the two gals in terms of sexual skill) yet each gal contributed something different to the fun and it was my favorite of the DVD in several ways. The oral sex wasn't bad but the playfulness they all showed was not diminished by the circus act nature of some aspects of the scene. It had oral, vaginal and anal sex with ATM but fans of either gal will find a lot to enjoy here (Alisha's over the top moaning was goofy though).

Summary: Only The Best of Seymore Butts 4 was a mixed bag of goodies in my book. The quality of the women varied more than usual and the amount of footage was far less than the advertised 2.5 hours on the rear box cover but it still managed to be worth a rating of Rent It on the merits of the DVD. If there had been better extras, more scenes and better technical qualities, I'm sure it would've been worth more to me but even then, fans will likely already have the source material for these and the amount of duplication Pure Play has gone for in the various Seymore Butts titles make it less likely that you won't already own one of these scenes.
