THE SEX

His titles may not sell like they used to, but one thing is for sure: very few directors shoot better sex scenes than Jim Holliday. His action is always well-lit, well-framed, and features attractive performers.

Where Holliday has run into trouble with fans are the frequent complaints that all his films are interchangeable. There's little argument that all of Holliday's movies have the same "look" to them (put one of his scenes on a TV, and nine times out of ten you'll know if it's a Holliday production), but I've always found his witty scripts and oddball storylines to be unique and fun.

Which brings us to Eye Candy 3 - which isn't the run-of-the-mill Holliday film because the director himself admits (in the commentary track on the DVD) that he only put together a plot after much of the sex had already been shot. So for the first time we have one of porn's most notable directors admitting that the story was almost an afterthought...and you know what? Eye Candy 3 turns out to be one of Holliday's best releases in years. So much for the importance of a good story.

What works here is the sex. There's lots of it (seven scene in all), and the collection of girls is some of the cutest you'll find in porn. And how better than to start a movie than with the sexy Taylor Rain – who takes Steve Hatcher's well-endowed tool deep in her asshole before the opening credits even roll.

Then there's popular starlet Sky Lopez, who gets it on with heavily-tattooed hunk Buck Legends in a scene that also includes its share of anal penetration. And who could say no to Alexis Malone, a hot blonde whom even Holliday admits (once again on the commentary track) has a very "Marsha Brady" thing going for her. Alexis has the third scene in the movie, pairing up with Talon (T.T. Boy's real-life younger brother) and taking his cumshot into her mouth, off her chin and down onto her chest.

No Holliday flick would be complete without its share of lesbian licking, and we get two nice scenes in Eye Candy 3 - the first between Kylie Wilde, Cassie Young and Tanya Danielle; and the second a movie-ending threesome between Alexis Malone, Serena South and Felecia.

Other scenes in Holliday's visual feast of fornication include a hot coupling between Violet Blue (one of my personal favorites) and Steve Hatcher; as well as a threesome between Steve, Katie Morgan and Lana Moore.

VIDEO/AUDIO

Not only are Holliday's scenes well-shot, but they are wonderfully transferred here, using one of the highest bit rates you'll find from an adult studio. VCA has always provided one of the best DVD transfers you'll find in the industry, and this is one of the sharpest releases I have seen from them. While the audio is only presented in 2.0 Dolby, it too is quite clear, and the level between the actors dialogue and the musical background is properly balanced.

THE EXTRAS

By far the most entertaining extra on this DVD is the Feature Length Commentary Track with Jim Holliday, Tanya Danielle and Alexis Malone. Holliday does commentaries on the majority of his adult releases, and he never sugarcoats anything – which makes for a great listen.

The DVD also contains a 19-minute Behind The Scenes segment, which actually covers the shoots of High Desert Pirates and She Devils In Pink, two other Holliday releases that were shot at the same time as Eye Candy 3. There's also a Slide Show, Cast Biographies, a "Wall To Wall" option (allowing viewers just to watch the sex, without the dialogue bits), Multiple Angles, and three Trailers for Holliday's movies Eye Candy: Refocused, Witch Coven College and Little Town Flirts.

BRIAN'S BOTTOM LINE

Holliday is known as the king of "fun and fluff" when it comes to adult material – and that's exactly what Eye Candy 3 is all about. You won't find any deep, hidden messages here – but if you're just looking for red hot porn, and lots of it, you need to make Eye Candy 3 part of your collection.
