Extras: The two disc set was full of extras that one would assume should be standard for a company as powerful and wealthy as Hustler; starting with a series of interviews (both in the nude and clothed) by the ladies of the movie lasting 27:47 minutes. There was nothing too revealing but they provided a decent introduction to the ladies all the same. There was also a slide show, trailers to Hustler and VCA titles, some spam for Hustler and phone sex commercials, and a surprise with an undocumented audio commentary not listed on the front cover. The commentary had the director joined by the editor (Nextdoor Jimmy) but Erica was the dominant force on the track. She started off by providing a series overview, talking glowingly about her husband who helmed the series for most of its run. Initially, I thought the editor was another name for Jimmy D but by the sound of his voice and demeanor, it was clearly someone else. As the scenes started in earnest, she devoted as much time to them and the circumstances they were in as she did to historical anecdotes. It was well worth a listen if you’re curious about the series, Hustler, and a wealth of information about the porn industry though it was a bit dry at times. Upon looking at the second disc, I noticed that the DVD case had an insert for Not The Bradys XXX and the second side of the cover (not including the cool slipcase) had each of the covers to the series to date. The second disc had a number of scenes in two groupings, the first being titled One Time Wonders that lasted 68:01 minutes with four older scenes from the past (as minimally described below). That was followed by four more scenes titled Porn Star Classics, lasting 77:21 minutes; starring Belladonna (from #5 in the series), Bunny Luv (from the series opener #1 with Allysin Chaynes), Sunrise Adams (from #18), and Jenna Haze (from #20). There was also a tribute documentary called Birth of a Phenomenon where a host of popular and infamous porn personalities paid their respects to the late Clive McLean. Larry Flynt, Paul Fishbein (AVN), Suze Randell, Ben English, and scores of others (Joey Silvera, Tera Patrick, and even many clips of the man himself). It was an interesting show with my favorite part being Jay Ashley describing a fight on the set of Barely Legal On Vacation where Bunny Luv lost her tooth. It was shot by the multi-talented Drew Rosenfeld and lasted 36:25 minutes, alone worth a look as a time capsule of porn with lots of fun to be had (nudity, sex).

Audio/Video Quality: Barely Legal 75 was presented in a fetching 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color by director Erica McLean for Hustler Video. The picture was well lit and as sharp & crisp as I’ve ever seen a movie from the company; the fleshtones accurate and little grain to fuss about (outside of the night shots). The composition of the camera angles worked well for most of the ladies, their all natural bodies served well by the care displayed but not always to the very best of the series. The editing was choppy, sometimes leaving a scene too early or late, almost as if covering up some shooting issues from the location; yet I thought a fair amount of improvement was shown from the last time I saw the series. The bitrate varied a lot, staying in the mid 4 Mbps range a lot, resulting in no noticed aliasing or compression artifacts. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English under the usual 192 Kbps; little separation or dynamic range noticed in the vocals or music for those of you wanting an upgrade by the series as much as I do.

Body of Review: Erica McLean has worked in porn for a long time now, formerly under the auspices of her husband before he passed away. The couple was best known outside of the industry for their work with Hustler Video, Erica’s latest flick being Barely Legal 75: Collector’s Edition; a double disc set with a lot to like for fans of youth titles. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, it typically consists of a series of vignettes starring gals new to porn that have a certain youthful look, placed in circumstances that allow them to come across as less experienced and polished compared to most porn on the market. I like curves on the ladies and more active sex skills but I could see the benefit of the action here, the second disc really elevating the value of the show. If you’re still interested, here is a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Skinny Dipping: Jenny Hendrix, a cute young gal that looked the part, was up first as the daughter of a friend of Charles Dera, with the two of them out by the pool on a perfect day. If I could have taken a shot of it without worrying about 2257 regulations, I would have but it amounted to a similar experience as any such scene in the series; a lot of licking, rubbing, and gal on gal play. They used some toys and paired off by the end of the scene, enough heat generated by the ladies to make me consider how much some of them probably liked women better than men (hence their hesitation with men in their other scenes). The ending masturbation sequence was kind of appealing too, resulting in a high note for the movie; thankfully saved by the extras.

Bonus Scene: Highway Runaway: Judy Star was up first as a disinterested gal taking a piss along side the roadway for Bobby Vitale. The scene came out in 2000 and served to remind me that the newer scenes are shot better, though it had some nice energy as they sucked and fucked.

Bonus Scene: Step Up The Ladder: Barely Legal 35: Tanya James and Tony were up in a scene where he was building a set and she was coming from school.

Bonus Scene: Porn Virgin: Victoria Phillips (later known as Corina Taylor) and Domino were up next with the Master of Mouth; Nick Manning. They played on set cow pokes that did a lot of poking, if you catch my drift.

Bonus Scene: Panty Passion: Barely Legal 53: Ola McKenzie, the tiny cutie located on the upper right hand corner of the front DVD cover, was up last as she narrated a bit about planting panties in order to entice James Deen into her life. He took the bait and brought her back her underwear for which she rewarded him with some crappy lemonade. He then traded that for a kiss which led to a lot more, including oral and vaginal sex. She certainly had the cute factor going for her but her participation in the scene was only moderate (better than some but way weaker than Lain's). Summary: Barely Legal 75 by director Erica McLean for Hustler Video was another volume in a series dedicated to porn fans that want young gals having sex without all the polished moves they tend to gain very quickly once they start making scenes like crazy. My tastes are with curvier gals that really love cock and ride it aggressively so my rating of Recommended might be on the light side if you are into this kind of thing but the second disc offered up some added value that pushed it over the edge for me. In short, Barely Legal 75: Collector’s Edition showed me that the series has certainly come a long way in the last 8 years, getting better all the time with a few side steps along the way. If you’ve been into the series for any length of time, this might be a nice time to continue on, though newcomers will find it a nice place to join in the fun too.
