Audio/Video Quality: Adam & Eve Signature Series 3: Alexandra Silk was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that the scenes were shot in by the various directors for various movies released by Adam & Eve. It wasn't my favorite compilation in terms of visual quality with this being what I said when I first saw it: "To be honest, these qualities are on the low side here.
Many of the scenes are shot on film and are fairly old so keep this in mind
when considering a purchase. The video is often grainy and otherwise marred
but that's due to the source material. The sound stunk too and I think the scenes came from the worst Adam & Eve had to offer. In any case, these factors shouldn't
keep you from at least considering this one-read on."

Body of Review: I have long had a love/hate relationship with compilations due to the way that so many have really sucked (in a bad way) over the years. Edited scenes, poor selections, and even scenes not fitting of the compilation's theme have all made me think twice before ever looking at a compilation without knowing exactly what was on it. One decent compilations series has been Adam & Eve's Signature Series where the company takes a number of scenes for a particular performer and puts them on a single DVD. That brings us to today's review of Adam & Eve Signature Series 3: Alexandra Silk, a selection of some mixed scenes starring the spunky little vixen from years ago. Here's what I said when I first saw it: "We all know how badly most compilations are tossed together.
Odds are, if you buy a compilation DVD, you're going to be mad at yourself
later on. Luckily, this series seems to take a different approach. It uses
the best scenes from Adam & Eve's vaults-probably hoping you'll buy the
original movies-instead of the junk that's left on the cutting room floor. This volume in the series focuses on Alexandra Silk. She's made over 250
porn movies so far and the quality of them varies a lot. She loves sex in
most forms, anal, lesbian, group or straight, so you know that she will
always be into the action. The DVD is hosted by Joel Lawrence as he interviews the somewhat flaky Alexandra
outdoors in the mountains. You get to learn a bit about her and see some of
her scenes from Adam & Eve movies. Note that the box advertises 8 scenes
plus 1 more unique scene and it only gives us 7 scenes plus the unique one.
Luckily for Adam & Eve, the feature is almost two full hours or I'd be
upset." Here's a breakdown of those scenes by cast and movie, noting that the sexual activity didn't vary much between the scenes:

Scene One: Reflections: 1998: Alexandra Silk takes on Mandy Frost and Tony Tedeschi in a hot
tub. The scene had a red tint to it and was slightly warm.

Scene Two: Gettin' Wet: Last Howl: 1999: Alexandra has sex with Kyle Stone. This
scene was too dark and had way too many shadows interfering with the action.
She did have some nice anal action though.

Scene Three: Last Tango: 5/25/97: This scene has Alexandra, Asia, and John
on the floor. I didn't like it when I reviewed the whole movie and I haven't changed my mind.

Scene Four: No Regrets: 1999: Alexandra meets Chloe! If you like these two,
you'll love this hot scene. During the interview, we learn that the scene
was too hot for the USA so the European's saw stuff we couldn't. That's a
shame but the scene was fine the way it was presented here.

Scene Five: Hawaiian Blast: 1998: This scene was actually from a Vivid movie
which gives me hope that future compilations may include scenes from other companies. In it, we have Alexandra and TT Boy having a
good time outdoors. It was short but fun and had good lighting.

Scene Six: Last Tango: 5/25/97: This scene shows Alexandra and Michael J. Cox.
Here's what I said in my earlier review: "The next sex scene is between
Alexandra and Michael. In the movie they are husband and wife. In the scene
they have a good enough time and she takes it anally for you ass fans out
there."

Scene Seven: No Regrets: 1999: Alexandra and Tyce Bune have barely warm sex. The
scene was very red which impacted the sexual heat.

Scene Eight: This is the scene recorded for this compilation and it has
Alexandra jumping Joel Lawrence's bones on the spot they were interviewing. I
probably liked this scene best of all the others although a few scenes here
were pretty good.

Summary: Adam & Eve Signature Series 3: Alexandra Silk wasn't the worst compilation I've seen over the years and Alexander Silk has long been worthy of the attention such a compilation could provide. As I put it years ago: "Compilations aren't usually known for high end technical values. They
usually stink and this one is slightly above average for the most part in that regard. The
earlier two volumes in the series are better but this one is okay for fans
of Alexandra's. I think most of her best work was done for other companies
so this puts Adam & Eve at a serious disadvantage here. The technical values are weak here and the sex isn't good enough to rise
above the pack. If you like her work, you'll want this one but otherwise,
it's a rental at best. Note to Adam & Eve: Your company has access to a bunch of good scenes by a
lot of hot looking women. If you expand the series, please try and focus in
on those women first. Try and work on the extras and technical values as
well as getting better proofreaders. Thanks!" I rated this one as a Rent It since it had so much to offer fans of this classy lady, even if it was flawed in many ways.

This Don Houston "retro-review" was written long ago before the so-called Professor of Porn had much experience writing reviews. Since that time, he has found Adam & Eve to have a lot of good releases and seen more porn than almost anyone reviewing on the internet. Keep in mind that his comments accurately reflected his fresh viewpoint of the time he first saw the movie.
