Extra's: The best extra for me was the audio commentary by Jonathan Morgan and former bigwig at Wicked, David Crawford. His twisted sense of humor is often at least as enjoyable as the material on the feature (other than the sex itself of course). It took place just before the Memorial Day weekend (shortly thereafter, David was no longer working at the company) and lots of interesting trivia was discussed. There was a decent bonus scene between Jessica Drake and Brad Armstrong that most fans will appreciate, a solid 28.5 minute long Behind the Scenes featurette by Jeff Scott, a box cover shoot featurette, Star Stats, some photogalleries, trailers, the usual promotional reels and such, and a bunch of interviews with the cast, on top of the double sided DVD cover
Condoms: Yes
Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in 1.85:1 ratio widescreen color. It looked much like a mainstream release done on film most of the time. There was some minimal grain and a few moments with lighting issues but overall it looked very solid with appropriate camera angles and well planned technical matters. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English. It was clear and crisp although I didn't notice any separation between the channels beyond some front channel split (the rear channels sounded like the same material played in the front).
Body of Review: Currently, the leading company on feature porn, the kind with a plot for those of you with remote controls used to fast forward through those scenes with talking, is Wicked Pictures. The company makes a number of types of porn but most of it revolves around plotted stories, such as their recent blockbuster Hercules. They also rely heavily on their contract directors, Brad Armstrong and Jonathan Morgan (both very talented in terms of what they do) and their multitude of contract performers (which vary over time). In their latest release, The Assignment, Wicked focuses on the lovely Julia Ann as a reporter researching a story on dating in contemporary times. Having just gone through a divorce, her boss thinks she's the perfect choice and she proves him right by looking for love in all the wrong places. Along the way, we get to see a host of scenes, most of which were very well done within the typical limitations of a Wicked release. Here's a breakdown of this, the latest Jonathan Morgan release, by cast:
Scene One: Kaylani, the little Asian gal, and Steve, had an okay scene together on a couch. The two get into the action fairly quickly and started off with some warmish oral before he took her doggy style. It ended with him dropping a load onto her face in this not bad scene.
Scene Two: Nicole, the blonde hotty with a great attitude towards enjoyment onscreen, and her real life husband Voodoo, had a scene together in a small room with some red lights. The two had an S&M scene where he dominated her (which is a first if I recall correctly). Lots of dirty talk and a hot outfit made this a winner for me. There was oral, straight, and anal with more heat than most need to get off on. Whew!
Scene Three: Rebecca, a gal with really large breasts and a cute face, took care of Alex in a barn. Her oral was solid with plenty of eye contact and even her reverse cowgirl was well done and didn't look labored. There wasn't any anal but it was a lot of fun.
Scene Four: Julia, a great looking blonde with some experience, and Charlie, a gal with totally beautiful eyes (as well as a smoking body), had a lesbian scene after meeting at a dating function. I think the scene was very warm and fans of lipstick lesbian sex will be pleased.
Scene Five: Julia, finally finding her perfect guy, had sex with Randy on a rooftop. It was slower and more erotic than the other scenes (which tended to be more energetic) but it was still very well made and probably more appropriate for watching with your significant other.
Bonus Scene: Jessica, looking hot, is driving her car at night and rolls through a stop sign. Brad, as a diligent police officer, pulls her over in order to enforce the law. She seduces him and works out a deal whereby he'll forget about giving her a ticket in exchange for some physical fun. The sex included oral by both and a straight screw in an alleyway at night ending with a facial. In all, it was a good scene.
Summary: The movie was a pleasant flick to enjoy with a loved one and had enough variety that even jaded old porn hounds like me enjoyed it. The production values were solid enough and the extras substantial for a general release (unlike Hercules, which also starred Julia, this release wasn't the type Wicked Pictures pushes heavily). I think it was easily good enough to earn a rating of Recommended based on the attractive cast, the fun sex, decent extras and production quality. Check it out.
