Audio/Video Quality: Taboo: Maximum Perversions was presented in a letter boxed 1.78:1 ratio widescreen letterboxed color by directors Lee Forbes, Richard Hamilton, Andrea Di Angelo and others for Hustler Video. The later scenes were substantially clearer and showed more attention to detail (they could have been shot out of sequence but it didn't seem like they were), with some grain and video noise in a few scenes in particular but it was readily apparent that each scene had a distinctive style and was cropped to match up here as part of the compilation. The bitrate varied a lot but tended toward the lower end of the spectrum for those who care, rarely causing compression artifacts from what I could see. The fleshtones were accurate and the composition of the camera angles enhanced the ladies in most cases, making them look good in their fetishware even if some of the scenes showed more care than others. I hope future works in the series have the directors leaning towards the better shot work and perhaps using an anamorphic process to enhance the DVD's look on a widescreen TV but none of the scenes here struck me as particularly poor in regards to the technical matters. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps bitrate) with little separation between the channels other then sounding like the music was mixed in with a stereo signal. The vocals were usually easy to hear and while slightly hollow, a bit more work would make them sound a lot better.

Body of Review: Hustler Video has long been one of the largest companies making porn, typically doing so for the masses rather than the hardcore perverts like the one writing this review. As such, they tend to not cater to the more extreme elements that buy and rent porn, some of their more recent series focusing on that niche more than previous ones had done from what I've seen. At this writing, we have collectively reviewed 500 of their titles and the ratings have been all over the place but often showing skilled directors at work so I took a look at a compilation of their kinkiest material this week to check out. The title was Taboo: Maximum Perversions, and it used scenes derived from the various Taboo series by the company, some more fetish oriented than others from what I could tell. To give a broader idea of what took place and how, I figured I would let the original reviews speak for themselves as I watched this one play. There were no condoms and the quality of the action varied considerably, reminding me that the DVD never mentioned it was a compilation until I opened it up so if you have some of the titles used to make this one up, you might be pissed off. Here is a look at the scenes by which movie they are from, who was in them, and often what they did:

Scene One: Taboo 6: As the first scene begins we see Anna, a rough looking brunette smoking a cigarette. After a few minutes of some sexy posing, Anna is joined by two well-hung guys (Jerry and Alex Sanders). While still holding on to the cigarette Anna proceeds to suck off both guys and receive some oral herself. The rest of the scene is pretty routine and mechanical - Anna gets tag teamed by the guys in a plethora of different positions. The scene ends with Anna on her knees taking two healthy doses of man gravy to the face. There didn't seem to be a lot of chemistry between the actors and that affected the action. Scene Two: Taboo 7: A typical dungeon with chains coming down from the ceiling. We find Sophia chained with her arms above her head exposing only her breast wearing a metallic face mask and collar waiting to be disciplined by Joey and later being tag teamed by Talon .All which makes for a very happy three-some. Scene Three: Taboo: Fetish Fantasy: This second scene opens to what is supposed to be a dungeon with very poor lighting. Here you have Tory Lane and Jezebelle Bond playing with each other as their Dom Christian watches on. After a few minutes of watching his subs going at it, Christian joins in. With the girls fussing over who is going to give him head, they are made to share his cock between them both. Within moments he has one of the ladies straddling him RCG while the other is made to watch. The second sub remains seated nearby playing with herself and rubbing the chains against her clit. Scene Four: Taboo 8: This first scene opens with the very petite and beautiful Michelle Maylene on her fours on top of the bondage bed using the dildo machine. Pain equal pleasures as she is strapped on to a harness and is hoisted a few feet off the ground. Van Damage uses two different floggers on her as she purrs asking for more. Scene Five: Taboo: Love Hurts: Penny Flame, smoking a cigarette as she abused her slave Sativa Rose, sat on her throne as she worked over the lovely ass of the gal with Jack Venice standing beside her. Sativa was made to lick her boots, working her way up to Penny's perfect pucker, soon rewarded with the taste of the flogger and clothes pins on her nipples with her hands bound above her head. Sativa was then placed in a cage on her hands and knees while Penny sucked and fucked Jack, getting Sativa all wet at the prospect that she might get some too. They switched out a few times, ending with Sativa on clean up duty as the pop went to Penny's crotch, but the chemistry of the trio was once again really solid and helped elevate the rating of the movie as a whole more than a little bit. Scene Six: Taboo 2: Teagan Presley, starring as a modern day Bionic Woman, complete with bionic ass, lips and breasts, was the star of the show here in a scene filmed before she got implants and signed for Digital Playground. Her partner was evil spy (and buff guy) Tommy Gunn with the two of them getting right down to business as she inhaled his penis soundly. They then proceeded to screw vaginally in several positions with her looking great. It wasn't her most energetic performance to date and the chemistry between them was only decent (not great) but I enjoyed it a whole lot as it had plenty of replay value. It didn't surprise me that she was given the front DVD cover considering how tasty she looked. (original scene review by me)

Scene Seven: Taboo 1: If you are turned on by the above images, this porn is for you. I will review this scene in one sentence. The guys (Frank Gun and Brett Rockman) cum on a slab of meat and she licks it up. I repeat, the cumshot of this scene, is on a raw, bloody chunk of flesh, off of which Mandy Bright licks their semen. Scene Eight: Taboo 4: Katsumi starts making out with a dude (Talon) who's frozen in carbonite (okay, so he's really just behind a big stretchy sheet of latex), while sinister music plays. She rips through the latex to get to dude's cock, which she gives a thorough slobbering to. She frees him from his trap and continues to go to town on his cock. He then tries to poke a hole in the side of her face with it. Dude leads her over to a darkened corner, where some gimp dude (Brett Rockman) is waiting for his blowjob. She then blows them both, and rides the new dude reverse cowgirl style. Han Solo returns to pound her ass on top of a metal chest and then both dudes shoot their loads all over a gas mask. Summary: Taboo: Maximum Perversions by Hustler Video and some of their best directors was full of heated scenes with only a few fillers provided. Still, as an unlabeled compilation, consumers might be hurt when they find out that much of the material was older and not up to the technical standards of the day. That left me with the quandary of how to rate it so I accepted it as a Rent It since Taboo: Maximum Perversions provided nothing new and did not see fit to warn people that it wasn't newly shot scenes. If you have not seen the scenes mentioned above though, there should be a lot of you willing to overlook the structural problem I had with it and you should consider buying a copy if you find a sale. I am really put off by unlabeled compilations these days so your mileage may vary but the sex was often the best of the batch from the movies they were taken from, making this a tougher call than usual for me.
