Extra's: The best extra this time was easily the 30.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that included the photoshoots as well as various comments from the gals having fun (before, during, and after the sex scenes). For those who enjoy analyzing the scenes of a movie from a whole different perspective, I highly recommend you check this out as it gave some insights regarding what went right (and wrong) with some aspects of the production (and some nudity by Jewel for fans that miss her). There was also a photogallery, a popshot recap from the scenes, a director's biography, some trailers, and a double sided DVD cover as usual.

Audio/Video Quality: Cumvert was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Jewel De'Nyle for her company, Platinum X Pictures. The best aspect of the visuals was the composition of the camera angles since most of the time they appeared to draw out the best in the performers. This is an area I almost never hear about and while admittedly a judgment call (this is a review after all), a bit of thought went into how things were shot here. The rest of the picture quality was somewhat weaker than I expected though with some lighting deficiencies that caused grain and minor video noise to appear from time to time. The editing can only cover up so much and this was one of those times I couldn't praise Jewel's visual acumen with the camera as much as I'd like but it was about average overall with no noticed compression artifacts. The stereo English audio had little worth going into with no separation between the channels and limited dynamic range but this is common for a gonzo.
Note: My copy of the DVD froze up during the fourth scene and I could only watch the rest of that scene by restarting the DVD and backing into the scene (it was somewhere around the 1:23:20 part of the movie). It might've been a defective copy but buyer beware.

Body of Review: Jewel De'Nyle was long one of my favorite performers for her heated antics on camera and fiery personality as well as her natural good looks. Now that she's no longer performing, I have to be satisfied with seeing her vision of porn as a director, not the best tradeoff in the world but one I can live with. Her latest release is the 177th release by her company, Platinum X Pictures, called Cumvert. The scenes had no truly unifying theme this time and after a splendid performance by the excellent Kylie Ireland, things kind of fell apart in terms of heat, passion, and general enthusiasm but here's a quick breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used, for those still interested in the show:

Scene One: Kylie Ireland, a curvy hotty with long red hair and a sweet looking ass, has long been appreciated by fans in porn for his combination of looks, talent and sexual demeanor. She began the first scene by crawling around in a netted body stocking and masturbating with a large pink toy while some lame music played on in the background. My personal opinion of Kylie is that she puts many gals half her age to shame with her heated antics and this scene was no exception, going into anal mode within seconds of masturbating (and even doing some ATM with the dildo). Thankfully, the music stopped once her scene partner, Manuel Ferrara, joined her to suck her pussy. She gave up some naughty dirty talk and the two were boning (in both holes) in no time. She did more taste testing, licked the floor, and even a technical DP before he rubbed out a load onto her mouth and face. In short, it was a great way to start the movie, using Kylie's energy, passion, and heated drive to get things off on a right foot. Yum!

Scene Two: Randi Wright, the gal on the front cover, had quite a different look than Kylie, so fans of skinny gals with all natural curves might appreciate her more than the porn icon. With interesting green eyes and two large tattoos of roses where her ovaries are, she followed the formula with a dildo and some minor league dirty talk on a couch before being joined by Kurt Lockwood, for the scene. Starting off with a pretty decent blowjob, she soon rode him in several positions. She wasn't as energetic or active in her participation of the scene but she wasn't a wallflower either, offering up a midpoint between the two styles. She did a fair bit of PTM (pussy to mouth) but other than saying "Oh Yeah, Umm, Ahh" a whole lot, she didn't manage to transcend the generic scene. She also didn't do anal which made me interested in why she was given the front DVD cover over someone as cute as Hillary (I could argue the reasoning behind it; she was attractive here, but I prefer to see the best performer on the cover, or if that won't see more discs, at least don't use the weakest). It ended when the 19 year old took the facial, acting like the load was toxic waste.

Scene Three: Nadia Sin, a stripper next door type with amble breasts and ass, was up next in some pink lingerie. She could use some time toning up and had some minor stretch marks but a number of you have indicated that you don't mind minor visual flaws if the performer is into the sex. The tease footage wasn't the best this time but at least it was apparent that she'd be doing anal given how she inhaled the toy in her ass, probably making partner Alex Sanders happy. She was more enthusiastic during the oral than Randi, admittedly not a difficult thing, and deep throated him handily. Sadly, she was a lazy fuck during the scene, making him do almost all the work and barely speaking as she was getting porked in her pussy and ass. It ended with the facial but she was only slightly less afraid of the semen than Randi and the scene suffered as a result.

Scene Four: Sydnee Capri, a black gal with a curvy ass and some impressive DSL's, was up next to provide some well needed diversity to the cast. Okay, her tease act needs a lot of work but I was willing to stick it out so I could see that booty in action; as an ass man, I always try to give the benefit of the doubt before declaring a performer "weak". She masturbated and otherwise warmed up for partner Dale DaBone and her sultry blowjob wasn't bad as she inhaled his meat pipe with practiced ease. Sadly, the DVD wouldn't play past this point without backing up from the following scene (my red hued, official disc looked clear of any scratches or debris), trying it on two players and two computers. That said; she did seem more enthusiastic at the action, in both her ass and pussy, ending with the facial that wasn't half bad. In all, it was a slightly generic scene but better than the previous two.

Scene Five: Hillary Scott, a cute blonde with a skinny body, was up last as she teased in her black lingerie and skipped any lengthy masturbation acts in favor of blowing partner Kurt Lockwood. She lacked the experience most of the others had and did very little dirty talking but still managed to show some passion for cock that most of the gals seemed unable to muster. While not in the same league as Kylie Ireland (not even in the same sport for the most part), she gave up the pussy and ass fairly well and showed some potential worth waiting to blossom in future releases. The scene ended with her taking the facial well enough but it wasn't anything that would lead me to think of her as a "cumvert" (a cross between a pervert and a cum loving gal) as the cover would suggest.

Summary: Cumvert was a release that had one scene worth truly watching more than a few times (Yay Kylie!) and some technical issues that were problematic. I liked the BTS feature a lot more than some of the scenes and while it wasn't terrible looking, it wasn't the best work I've seen out of PXP either. I'm going to rate this one as a Skip It, a rarity for anything released by the company (and I've seen about a third of their titles), but fans of the cast can rent it to see their favorite gals do what they do. Just don't say I didn't warn you since most of them seemed distant and less into the action than I've seen of them in the past. If I hear anything about the technical matters that interfered with the DVD, I'll update the review accordingly but the only scene this really impacted was Sydnee since it ruined the flow of her act.
