The Movie:

Aurora Snow is the cutest thing in porn right now, and she's so deliciously dirty that her films are immensely watchable. Team her up with a couple of other hot to troy Sin City girls and put them into a soap opera style story that forces the characters to explore their own sexuality and you've got a winner, especially when it has decent production values and nice camera work like Harlot does. The plot? Chris Cannon gets upset when he finds out his wife, Aurora Snow, is hanging out at a sex club, which explains her lack of enthusiasm in the bedroom with him. He calls in a psychic played by Brittney Skye who explains all of this to him, and he comes up with a plan to win her back and have some fun of his own.

Chapter 1 – Kimberly Kane: Her boss needs her to take some dick-tation, if you catch my drift and soon enough she's got his cock out and her skirt up. She rides him cowgirl style for a little while, and they actually carry on a legitimate conversation about his life. She tells him, while she's boffing him, about a psychic friend of hers who is a psychic detective who could help him out with his dilemma. She takes off her dress after the plot devices are dealt with and he reems her doggy-style. This shot on digital video production looks pretty clean presented here in a reasonably stable 1.85.1 anamorphic widescreen presentation. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots and a noticeable bit of mpeg compression evident in some of the darker colors and the blacks but other than that, there's not a lot to complain about. Skin tones look nice and natural, the compositions are dead on, and aside from the fact that this digital video production looks like a digital video production and as such suffers from the minor defects usually associated with the format, everything is coming up roses as far as the look of the film is concerned.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly as do all of the moans and groans. The soundtrack is mixed in properly at a respectable level so as not to overshadow the speaking parts when they do occur. Bass response is nice and lively and overall, for a porno movie, this is a better than average effort. The audio does go out of synch in during the dialogue that occurs after the final sex scene, but it's only for a few seconds and odds are you won't make it to that point anyway.

Extras:

First up is a full length commentary track with director James Avalon, joined by Richard Banks, the director of photography. The begin by explaining the genesis of the film's name and then dive right into some fun and interesting details about the various sex scenes in the film. The pair are interesting to listen to when they're talking, but there are a few periods of dead air that do drag this track down a little bit. These instances mostly occur in and around the sex scenes, so it might be intentional, but the reality of the situation is that this track really only adds up to about half the running time of the film itself.

A Behind The Scenes documentary features some backstage interviews with the cast (including Ms. Snow, who I want to come live with me forever and ever – has there ever been a cuter porn star than her???) and the crew as well as plenty of candid backstage footage of the girls posing for photo shoots and in action in front of the camera. A few clips from the film put this well edited segment into context, and at just under twelve minutes it runs long enough to be informative but no so long as to overstay its welcome.

Up next are on camera video interviews with all six of the girls involved in the film. While these might have been interesting, unfortunately the audio quality on them leaves a little to be desired as it sounds like they were just recorded live off the floor with a camcorder. The run in length from three to six minutes and each of the girls – Aurora Snow, Brittney Skye, Dillan Lauren, Holly Wellin, Kimberly Kane and Kinzie Kenner – gets a chance to talk about themselves and their work a little bit.

Rounding out the extra features is a pop-shot access option, biographies for all of the cast members in text format, three photo galleries (a glamour gallery, a hardcore gallery, and a behind the scenes gallery) that contain a wealth of photos from the movie, a company profile, a weblink, a phone sex advertisement, and trailers for Barely 18 #16, Digital Daydreams, Stalker, Dream Teens 2 and Undertow.

Final Thoughts:

An interesting porno with a plot that combines a reasonably interesting story that examines some unique psychological aspects of sexuality in a roundabout way, with some truly steamy sex scenes. The more Aurora Snow in anyone's smut collection, the better I say. Good video quality, good audio quality, and way better than average extra features make Harlot highly recommended.
