Extra's: Depending on what you like as an extra, there were some solid little tidbits here starting with a "blow bang" by Nadia Styles; essentially an oral gangbang starring Nadia, Mark Ashley, Will Powers and Billy Glide as they hammer her throat mercilessly to blow loads into her. Audio/Video Quality: Trophy Whores was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jonni Darkko for distribution by Evil Angel. One of the things I've noticed about his work in the past is that the lighting and camera work aren't all that great on average so I was hopeful that he'd been listening to critics like myself that pointed out how little changes could improve his offerings a lot. Well, in a bit of good news, he improved the lighting this time and while he needs to keep adjusting it for optimal spread, the scenes looked better than ever with him. I know the few of you that prefer dark, shadowy porn like your grandfathers used to enjoy out in the woodshed might disagree but I like seeing the action in full glory and not having to guess which hole the men are tapping (not to mention the copious amounts of grain and video noise low lighting causes). Admittedly, some of the lighting was harder than usual on the ladies but minor tweaking can fix that easily. So, there was a bit of grain but not as much as usual and the video noise was on par for this type of gonzo but the focus and composition of the shots remained a bit uneven and in need of further work (don't worry buddy, you're almost there!). There were some compression artifacts but overall, I think Jonni did a decent job this time. The 2.0 stereo audio was a mixed bag of tricks with the vocals sometimes too low and the music almost always too high but I was so happy with the visual improvements that I didn't want to rag on the guy any more.

Body of Review: Jonni Darkko has been at Evil Angel for a while now, trying to fit in and find his niche along side some of the greats in porn (imagine being compared to John Stagliano, Jules Jordan, Joey Silvera, John Leslie and now Erik Everhard, every day at work!). He's proven to have "the eye" and now needs to figure out exactly where he's going to apply it in order to satisfy his self and his fans at the same time. His latest release is Trophy Whores, a collection of scenes with a great cast having a great time in vignette styled scenes. From my point of view, I think he's starting to breakthrough and become the driving force he has long sought to be although time will tell for sure. In any case, here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used by the men:

Scene One: Alektra Blue, the lean brunette on the right hand side of the front DVD cover, was up first to set the pace of the movie but teasing the camera in a minimalist setting that quickly led to Mark Ashley going down on her. This didn't last long though as the music faded out and he started boning home in that little pussy of hers. The lighting was better than average for Jonni but too bright, to the point where he looked like he couldn't maintain an accurate focus on her. Summary: Trophy Whores was not a perfect movie but the combination of raw energy, improving technical values, decent extras, and amount of fuck for the buck leads me to believe that a slight adjustment in the rating is the fairest thing I can do, giving the movie a rating of Highly Recommended. The passion the ladies showed, the balls to the wall performances that will leave the shy gasping for breath and the willingness of the cast to go the extra mile to succeed (or was that "suck seed"?) just made it too tempting a target to prop up as an example of Jonni on the move upwards. His attention to improving the technical values alone merited extra consideration and the hardcore nature of the sex acts seemed like someone had come in to turbo charge the action for him but as director, he was the one to put it all together so he gets the accolades. I hope his future work continues in this vein given the chemistry they showed with one another too. Keep it up Jonni!
