Audio/Video Quality: James Deen’s 7 Sins: Greed was presented in anamorphic widescreen as directed by James Deen for Evil Angel. The Director of Photography was Johnathan Taylor Thomas, the editor and musical scorer listed as Danny Wylde, both areas showing a lot of artistic touches from what I experienced. Those who like a lot of lighting and clearly defined sexual scenes will find this movie to be cut from a different cloth, my screen captures perhaps helping you see that this isn’t the same kind of porn most of us are used to watching over the last 20+ years. There was a company watermark on the lower right corner of the picture but it was unobtrusive to me, the other issues bothering me much more. The aural components were on the basic side too, the vocals a bit too low in most of the scenes because they emphasized the score by Danny, music used more often to set the mood before it was rapidly altered to suit the nature of the flick.

Body of Review: James Deen has been directing for Evil Angel for a short time now, the resulting movies showing a great deal of potential. His latest title for the company is called James Deen’s 7 Sins: Greed, the movie coming out the other day. The theme of the movie was clear enough, James trying to bone scores of hotties without the usual repercussions, but it interested me as the beginning of a series too, “Gluttony” coming out in a month or so. Costarring Alektra Blue, I went into this one quite blind but full of hope that it would be as dark and kinky as described, the cast list full of a multitude of boner generating ladies.

The back cover described the movie like this: “Evil Angel director James Deen takes on the 7 Deadly Sins in this feature narrative series. The first installment, GREED, follows a greedy man who captures women as possessions and holds them for his own sexual bidding. Starring Alektra Blue, Belle Noire, Rilynn Rae, Cameron Canada, Jessica Ryan, Bailey Blue, Tiffany Tyler, Lyla Storm, Janice Griffith, Alison Faye, Katie St. Ives, Angelina Chung, Giselle Leon, Kimmy Lee, Lilly Evans, Mena Li and Jennifer Dark.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Cameron Canada, Jessica Ryan, and Belle Noire, were up first giving James Deen blowjobs as he brushed his teeth and otherwise got ready for the day. I admit that the use of darkness was a pain in the ass for me to a degree since I appreciate seeing everything going on but understand that some may like this better than the warehouse lighting of contemporary porn, a lot of rug munching and rimming included with the extensive titty play before James walked in to join his “possessions”. The ladies took turns actively riding his cock and sucking him clean, most of them engaging in lesbian antics while waiting to receive his load of splooge. Summary: James Deen’s 7 Sins: Greed by director James Deen for Evil Angel came across to me as an experimental type of porno with far less explicit action than you usually see in an adult feature. That it left so much up to the audience to figure out was curious indeed, the typical porn enthusiast not known for patience or willingness to go too far in their search of inspirational material. I ended up rating this production as a Rent It because even though I thought it had some decent moments, it was just too poorly lit and the action hidden in the darkness too much for me, the obvious themes yet to be explored probably building up to make this movie work better as part of the larger whole. In short, James Deen’s 7 Sins: Greed is the kind of movie that most people are going to either really like or really hate with little middle ground, the predominantly black and white photography and low lighting keeping it from filling my spank bank like one of James’ earlier flicks for the company. Of interest to me was that the rolling credits listed 9 distinctive scenes too, the reality of it for me being there were three actual “scenes” and a BJ-only tryst at the beginning marred by cutting back and forth between James brushing his teeth and getting a hummer. Give this one a look though as you might just find it is more than a curiosity or part of a larger whole, the alternative nature of it possibly what some of you have been looking for.
