THE PLOT

Things aren't going well for Bobby Soporno (Rob Spallone) in The Sopronos 5. He's been trying to get out of organized crime and has turned the duties of his strip club over to Dick Smothers, Jr. But the lure of making a few bucks off a fighter he owns (by getting him to take a fall in a big fight) is too tempting for Bobby, so it's back to a life of crime for Mr. Soporno.

The Sopornos 5 is the second in the series directed by VCA guru Wit Maverick, and it has a lot to live up to – since The Sopornos 4 was probably the best entry in the series. In comparison, Number 5 is somewhat of a disappointment, but it does have one thing the other four entries don't – a hell of a cliffhanger, and one that won't be resolved until The Sopornos 7, since Wit tells us on the commentary track that The Soprnos 6 is a flashback movie.

THE SEX

As for the sexual action, fans of Sunset Thomas should enjoy this volume, since she has two very hot sex scenes in it. First up is a lesbian pairing with Cynara Fox – which fits into the storyline nicely, since Cynara is playing Bobby's wife, and Sunset is playing his girlfriend. Sunset also has a movie-ending scene with Kurt Lockwood – shortly after a break-up with Bobby, after which Sunset is desperate to get it on with someone else.

Other scenes including a movie-opening threesome with Katie Morgan, Brooke Lane and Scott Styles; a in-the-ring threesome with Rick Patrick, Joelean and Dana Vespoli; plus a kind of "filler" scene (since the two aren't really important characters to the plot) with Lady Victoria Spencer (a blonde who is wearing a maid's outfit) and Steve Hatcher.

VIDEO/AUDIO

The video is full-frame and top-notch for an adult release. The audio is clear, but suffers somewhat due to the fact that the dialogue portions of the film seem much lower than the sex scenes.

THE EXTRAS

In addition to the main presentation, the DVD includes a feature-length commentary track with stars Rob Spallone, Katie Morgan and director Wit Maverick that proves to be quite entertaining. Rob keeps joking around, Katie makes comments in her cute little voice, and Wit seems to be the only one who wants to seriously discuss what is going on in the movie.

Other extras include a behind the scenes segment that includes footage from The Sopornos 6; trailers for the first four Sopornos movies as well as trailers for three other VCA titles; a Sunset Thomas audio biography and photo gallery; a slide show for the movie; a "Wall To Wall" sex option, which allows you to view the sex scenes only; plus a chapter selection, cast list and a trailer for VCA's voice-activated titles.

BRIAN'S BOTTOM LINE

Fans of the series are going to want to pick this one up…if only to see what happens to Bobby at the end of the movie! The sex is about average for an adult release, although fans of Sunset Thomas should give this one special attention – since she has two scenes and some of the hottest action on the disc. Overall, given the quality of the movie and the amount of bonus material that has been loaded onto the DVD, this one's worth a purchase and a spot on your permanent shelf.
