The Movie:

Vonn Fink's latest venture for Teravision, distributed by Vivid, is Skinn Kandi, a stylish porno with a very miniscule plot that is loosely based on Alice In Wonderland. Charlotte Stokely plays the Alice character and she basically walks into another world where sex is the order of the day. In between each scene we're treated to trippy little vignettes that show us her voyeuristically enjoying that scenes that she's not directly involved in. It's an interesting and effective way to sort of tie the scenes together, but ultimately the film doesn't have a whole lot of substance even if it does have oodles of style. That said, the sex is decent and the girls look good. Here's the play by play:

Chapter 1 - Charlotte Stokely And Barry Scott: Charlotte walks into a room and finds Barry there. She starts sucking his cock, licking and jerking him. Soon enough he comes on her tits and she rubs it all over her chest. Not a bad oral scene at all but the music is repetitive and distracting.

In the end, Skinn Kandi is a flashy and hyper stylish piece of work with a solid cast and some good sex. Some of the angles, lighting and music is a bit much but there's some very creative set pieces and good art direction here that makes this a good movie for couples or for those who enjoy art-porn.

The DVD

Video:

This shot on digital video production looks pretty clean presented here in a reasonably stable 1.78.1 non-anamorphic widescreen presentation. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots and a noticeable bit of mpeg compression evident throughout in the darker scenes. Skin tones look nice and natural, the compositions are dead on, and aside from the fact that this digital video production looks like a digital video production and as such suffers from the minor defects usually associated with the format, everything looks as good as you'd realistically expect it to.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly, as do all of the moans and groans. Background music sounds good even if the levels do tend to fluctuate quite a bit from scene to shining scene but aside from that there isn't much to whine about here. The audio is fine.

Extras:

The only substantial supplement on the disc is a Behind The Scenes (13:10) featurette that starts off with Charlotte talking to the camera and introducing the movie. From there we see an interviews with Brian Surewood, before cutting to some behind the scenes footage of the two of them together. We see the some of the sets being built and then we see Page Morgan work on her three-way scene.

Aside from that, we also get a photo gallery of hardcore stills, trailers for thirteen other Teravision DVDs, animated menus, scene selection and a web-link.

Final Thoughts:

The extras are slim and at times the film teeters dangerously close to serving as an exercise in style over substance but the sex is hot and creative and the more Charlotte Stokely the better. Skinn Kandi is a little overcooked with the post production effects but it's well paced, well shot and well cast. Recommended.
