The Movie:

None of the performers are all that believable as actors and actresses but they don't do a horrible job with the material and seeing as the story line only exists to bring us from one sex scene to the next, they're fine here. Chapter 1 – Nikki Nine And James Deen: Nikki is lying on the bed in her cheap apartment when James comes in and asks her to show him her pussy. With a little more experience under her belt she could be a name for some time to come and there's something to be said for the naivety that comes with being so new to the business that makes her endearing. The film is very well shot with nice cinematography and a decent score and some obvious money put into the production values. The cast is strong and the girls, goofy implants aside, are all quite attractive. Consider this one a decent couples movie in that it's not too kinky, there's a reasonably decent story line and it looks really good.

The DVD

Video:

The 1.85.1 (sadly) non-anamorphic widescreen transfer on this DVD is rock solid. Color reproduction is strong, black levels are consistent and deep but not too murky, and there's a nice level of fine detail present throughout. The only real flaw is that there are some compression artifacts here and there that you probably will pick up on as well as some ringing here and there. Other than that, there's really nothing to complain about, Educating Nikki looks surprisingly clean! The disc really should have been anamorphic, however...

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track gets a bit loud in spots but it doesn't quite overpower the performers and for the most part this track is free of any major defects. There are no problems with hiss or distortion and once you turn the volume down just a bit, it's fine.

Extras:

The main extra feature on this disc is a behind the scenes featurette that starts off with an interview featuring Nikki who talks about her Hustler contract and how she got into the industry to get back at an ex-boyfriend. Evan Stone pops up with nice things to say about how she attacked him right out of the gate, and there are some behind the scenes clips used to illustrate various points. The other girls show up and talk about their work in porn and what they like to do in bed, and then there are some more clips used. The whole thing runs for 9:15 and while it's not super in-depth, it is a moderately interesting interview/look at the on set action.

Aside from that, look for the usual Hustler DVD extras – trailers for four of their DVDs, trailers for four VCA DVD releases, a still gallery containing roughly seventy-five pictures of the five starlets from the feature, some phone sex ads, and a web-link. Star selection and chapter selection are also provided off of the main menu screen.

Final Thoughts:

While it's too soon to say what kind of staying power Nikki Nine will have in the industry, her two scenes in this feature prove to be erotic and legitimate giving the young lady a fair amount of natural heat and charisma. The storyline isn't bad, the other sex scenes range from average to very strong, and while the extras aren't as plentiful as you'd expect, the audio and video are tops. Educating Nikki comes recommended.
