Extra's: Unlike most of the previous releases in the Private Life of series, this one was skimpy on the extras other than the bonus scenes. This is likely due to the fact that Petra wasn't in a whole lot of their movies, magazines, and BTS features so there wasn't a lot to work with; a prediction I've made in the past about the series continuing well past the point of the company's superstars and into the second tier (although attractive) performers. The best extra of all was the bonus scene made exclusively for this compilation where Petra had some bathtub sex with Silvia Lancome but the usual quiz was also present and it led to a very short masturbation scene once you got the answers correct. There was also a photogallery from the scenes and a few trailers but nothing else of note included in this two disc set.

Audio/Video Quality: The Private Life of Petra Short was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color all the scenes were shot in by the various directors employed by Private over the years. I don't think any of the scenes looked particularly bad but a number of them showed their age (many were five years or so old, a long time in porn years). The grain and video noise varied a lot but at least I saw no compression artifacts while watching this one. The audio was mostly dubbed English with little separation on the stereo track and even less dynamic range but I've heard a lot worse too so consider this about average for a foreign release.

Body of Review: Fans of star driven compilation scenes have found a great deal of variety in terms of quality on the market in recent years. Some companies edit the scenes or provide a no frills package of weak scenes while others go all out and give you your money's worth. Private has long been a leader in such compilations and their latest venture was The Private Life of Petra Short (Private Life Series #24), a set of scenes starring attractive cutie Petra Short in a host of her best work from Private. As I've stated in the past, the Private Life of… series has provided a lot of fuck for the buck by showcasing hot women such as Sandy Styles, Monique Covet, Stacy Silver, Jessica May, Sandra Iron, Jodie Moore, Rita Faltoyano, Bettina, Jane Darling, Kate More, Wanda Curtis, Michelle Wild, and Cristina Bella in some very well done compilations that added in some great extras most of the time (not all of the women were available to give interviews or other bonus features new to their compilations) and this was no different. If you enjoy watching Petra, this is a must have since she isn't particularly well known and you're not going to find as much fuck for your buck starring her than this one. Summary: The Private Life of Petra Short was a mostly unremarkable collection of scenes due to the limits of what she did for Private. Let's face it; the company had numerous superstars working for them over the years so a second stringer, even one as attractive as Petra, is not going to stand out in the crowd. There were scenes on the beach, in beds, on top of various objects and all over the world but the bottom line is that much of the action was generic with limited heat and energy. Unless Private intends to go to a single disc format with the series or group some of their former employees together, they might want to put the series to rest for a while given the limited appeal of some of the last few releases, which is why I'm generously giving this one a rating of Rent It. You'll find worse fucks than Petra Short in the world but you'll find a lot better too and the weak extras didn't help the rating much since I grouped the scenes together as part of the feature itself. Look to other volumes for value and quality but unless you became a fan of Petra's over her limited scenes, this one simply didn't rate the cut.
