Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the industry standard 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. Due to the age of the source material, the picture tended to be grainy with lighting problems more often than not. There was mosquito noise present and some compression artifacts observed from time to time. The colors varied in accuracy but in the better scenes, you wouldn't notice and in the weaker scenes it wouldn't have helped any. The audio was presented with the same choices as Private is known for but I listed to the English stereo track. There wasn't much, if any, separation between the channels and some were native to English while others dubbed. In all, the music was too loud in several scenes but generally not as big an issue as the video quality.

Body of Review: Private Pictures is one of the world's biggest producers of adult material, bar none. As such, they have a number of series and product lines that provide the porn consuming public with the type of hardcore action they desire. This is not to say the company has a perfect track record but on average, raincoaters get a lot of action for their dollar with most releases by the company. In their latest DVD release, one that initially was released on videotape over eight years ago, the company provided seven scenes of varying quality in a vignette style DVD called Private Stories 1. The performers included a lot of American cast and here's a breakdown of the scenes by movie, date and director as well as cast and types of sex included, noting that no condoms were used here:

Scene One: Sex For Fun: 2/95: D-Freddie Morse: Alexandria, a brunette with a lot of freckles, and Damien, had sex in a bed. It was fairly mechanical with no passion to speak of and included oral and straight only.

Scene Two: A Stair Fuck To Heaven: 6/95: D-Francois Clousot: Katy, an attractive and lean brunette, and Nick, had a warmish scene on some stairs at a large villa of sorts. The sex included anal and looked like fun although there were too many close up shots.

Scene Three: Garage Girls: 10/94: D-Nic Cramer: Felecia and Rebecca, two gals that are still well known throughout the porn world, had a scene outside as they washed a car. I think Rebecca looked too lean for my tastes here but fans will appreciate how young she was at the time. I think Felecia looked very sexy with all her curves intact and the two had some fun. My biggest complaint would be that the lighting wasn't optimal and the camera angles were often distracting. Is it any wonder that Private gave director Cramer the boot (thankfully at that)?

Scene Four: Mountain Fuck: 2/95: D-Freddie Morse: Tammi, a lean blonde with a bunch of energy, took on both Frank T. and Jon outdoors by a stream. It looked like the picture was cropped to make it seem widescreen but I believe it was originally shot in the standard full frame. The sex included a lot of oral, straight and anal with some heat taking place.

Scene Five: Light My Ass: 6/95: D-Francois Clousot: Andrea, Judith, and Melinda, took on Alberto and Nick in a restaurant at night. I think it looked too dark but it had oral, straight and anal with some energy so this helps offset the technical problems. In all, not a bad scene based on the sex itself.

Scene Six: The Beach Bitch: 12/94: D- Francois Clousot: Liza, a redhead with a lean body, and well-known star Frank G., had a scene on a beach. It was fairly short with an emphasis on anal sex but far too lacking in chemistry for me to appreciate. I think a lot of the complaints about Private's older movies dwell on this fact and I've noticed a lot of improvements in recent months.

Scene Seven: Licke'r In The Front, Poke'r In The Rear:: 3/95: Vanessa, a playful little gal, took on Vince and Ian in a pool hall. Both of the guys looked very young and had long, girlish hair, leading me to think this uncredited scene was from their early days in the industry. The scene was full of oral, straight and anal sex before it ended with a facial. I thought it was a pretty solid scene although not close to their best work.

Summary: I think the limitations of the source material made this one worth a rating of Rent It for anyone that's not already a big fan of several of the cast members. Compared to much of their current catalog, this was a bit light in the loafers but it wasn't bad on average. The extras were lacking too which made me think a lower price would've been in order but fans of Private will like what's here.
