Extra's: The extras this time included the usual cast biographies, trailers, photogallery, production notes and multitude of languages & subtitles to pick from. Given the nature of the amount of material in the compilation itself, this wasn't as big an issue as it would have otherwise been.

Audio/Video Quality: Diamonds was presented in the original aspect ratio of the scenes from their source material, several of which were in anamorphic widescreen. The colors were accurate, the images usually sharp and clear, and the lighting rarely a problem as it appeared someone thought to include the best filmed scenes of the past few years rather than the most sexually passionate. Thankfully, most of them were also hot to watch but the picture looked very good and I saw no compression artifacts or major amounts of video noise while watching the movie. The audio was presented in stereo English (there were the usual foreign languages too) with a fair amount of separation between the channels at times, a nice mix of music in some scenes, and few of the really bad dubs Private used to be commonly associated with.

Body of Review: Compilations are one of the genres that many people like to argue about in the porn world. To some people, they are hand me down scenes belonging nowhere while to others, such releases are a chance to see a body of work that allows specific fetishes or performers to be highlighted in a pleasing manner. Private has long been a leader in compilations and their latest effort, Diamonds, advertised itself as having "The best scenes of 2004" so how bad could it be? Well, many of the scenes were really good looking and a number of them had passion but a lot of them were filmed in 2003 so I suppose it rubbed me the wrong way when I started writing this review up. After all, why advertise one thing and present another? I'll cut them some slack since the scenes had a lot of fuck for the buck to offer but you catch the drift. Here's a breakdown of the ten scenes by cast, movie they're from, director, production date and types of sex:

Scene One: Sluts in the Sun: D-Tony De Sergio & Steve Hooper: 6/2003: Sandy, the cute blonde in the center of the front DVD cover, was joined by Mark and Tony on a lush beach (she was smoking in a van at the time, who admired her body (while her tiny red bikini was still on). She gave good oral and had some heated vaginal but the anal and very short DP were too limited for my tastes. It ended with a double facial for those who care.

Scene Two: Sex, Lies & Internet: D-Gianfranco Romagnoli: 6/2003: Sandra and David had the next scene in the rain at night as she enjoyed the feel of outdoor sex. It was actually one of the more skillfully shot scenes although the slow motion photography got in the way at times. I've only seen a handful of such scenes over the years and this was perhaps the best in most ways with her oral truly outstanding and the rest of it fairly solid too.

Scene Three: Millionaire: D-Alessandro Del Mar: 3/2004: Alexa, the cute brunette on the left hand side of the front DVD cover, her lean blonde pal Alicia, and regular guy Philip, joined in for some fun on a lawn chair by a lush pool. The gals blew him and caressed him to prepare him for the boning. Alicia did most of the hard stuff, including the best anal, but each looked very attractive in the afternoon sun.

Scene Four: Sex Angels: D-Xavi Dominguez: 12/2003: Mya, a cute, lean brunette that looked a lot like mainstream actress Lucy Lui, was up next in a scene that took place in the locker room of a dojo where the enemy was supposed to be hiding out, with two guys, Ramon and Andrea (yup, it's a guy's name in Europe). She provided some solid oral fun before alternating between them in her pussy and ass with a DP for kicks near the end. This scene was markedly better due to the chemistry and heat generated between the cast; proving to me that my patience would be rewarded. Whew!

Scene Five: Caribbean Airlines: D-Alessandro Del Mar: 6/2003: Alena, Donna, Elena, Rita, and Victorie, all played stewardesses needing a break by a pool. They masturbated and otherwise teased Francesco, a guy minding his own business while enjoying the pool at a tropical resort. The gals ganged up on him and all seemed to want to slob his knob a bit before a few of them took turns getting the hot beef injection he had to give. The sex included vaginal and anal screwing with the gals jerking him off in the end but it wasn't as good a scene as it could have been due to the way the gals didn't all fully participate.

Scene Six: Private X-Treme 12: Hot Property: D-Gazzman: 10/2003: Stacy played a rich gal trying to see her mansion. Thankfully, Denis and Tony were ready to help her sell it (and do anything else she wanted). The scene included oral, straight, and anal with a DP as the energetic trio had a great time screwing on a couch. I thought she looked cute and her tight white shirt was nice in how it showed off her nipples so even a bad scene couldn't have been too awful. Thankfully, aside from the music, it was well done with a lot of sexual passion and energy taking place. I couldn't really tell if there was any chemistry between the players here (she alternated too much between them) but it was fun to watch more than once. It had lots of oral, a fair amount of vaginal and plenty of anal with DPs and facials (as well as an anal creampie).

Scene Eight: Private Life of Jane Darling: D-Little Al: 3/2004: Jane and Andrea, playing a secretary and her boss, had a scene straight out of a Penthouse letter on a desk. He allowed her to masturbate before bringing her a few large dildos in order to warm herself up but he soon joined her for all the usual action. I think she did one of her best scenes here and looked fittingly attractive as the usually staid worker bee. Yum!

Scene Nine: Victoria's Wet Secrets: D-Kovi: 4/2003: Lucy and Niki, another couple of attractive gals, disappointed me when Lauro and Renato came calling at the indoor pool. Why? Well, one of them was stuck in masturbate mode, never joining them, letting her friend do all the work. I like solo scenes but this was a combination that simply didn't work this time since all the heat was with the trio (anal, DP, facials).

Scene Ten: Private Life of Sarah O'Neal: D-Juan Carlos Jesus Villalobos: 5/2004: Sarah, a curvy brunette, and Toni, had a scene that at first made me think Private had mixed something up on and offered a martial art release (the opening was better than most such releases in fact). It wasn't until the scene was well underway that I realized the director had tried something special (mostly succeeding too) as the scene was nearly a half hour long with way more foreplay than Private tends to offer. The sex included oral, vaginal and anal with all the taste testing you'd expect from a hardcore gonzo release but it also had a lot of nice scenery too offer in the story aspect of the show.

Summary: Diamonds had its share of rough edges but I liked the compilation enough to rate it as Recommended for fans of the attractive cast, Private's usual style of sexual activity and simply for those who are looking for a decent deal. I'd have preferred more of the gals to connect with their partners and some of the scenes to last longer but on average at least, the compilation certainly did offer up a nice banquet of poon tang to enjoy. I hope to see future releases in this line so as to compare them but maybe a bit less emphasis on the specific year might help.
