Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color, as originally shot by Quasarman. The first observation I had was how poorly lit the production was; the whole thing looked very dark with a lot of reddish tint in several scenes. I'm told that that was likely due to postproduction work but I'm not sure since I've also been told that it has to do with properly setting the camera for the right lighting. In any case, there was a lot of soft focus and grain to go with the video noise, making it below par for a recent release. The audio was presented in stereo English but I didn't hear any separation between the channels and the dynamic range was weaker than usual. The vocals were also hollow, adding a "what the heck happened?" effect to the show, but I suppose Metro knows what they're doing.

Body of Review: In recent years, a number of performers seem to stand out from the crowd in the porn world. One such performer is Gauge, a small gal from a smaller town in the Deep South that seemed to grab everyone's attention with her outspoken nature over the years. Love her or hate her, she's definitely one of a kind and that's why Metro Interactive offered her a contract not too long ago. One of the movies made under that contract was Gauge Unchained, a series of vignettes that had paired her with a variety of men and women in situations designed to get you off. At some point over the last year though, Gauge and Metro got into a bit of a dispute and one of the results was the company shelving this movie from the DVD market. Having seen it myself for the first time, I'm now wondering if the reason behind the dispute was Gauge's performance in this movie, one of her worst in years (and I like her work as a whole). Scene One: Gauge started the show off with a little striptease sequence. She was in an artistic room, full of weird lighting, a chair shaped like a hand, and music that you could slow dance to in the a 1950's theme. After stripping, she started masturbating, with her hand at first and then with a large red toy. I was glad when the music stopped so I could hear Gauge moaning and the juices squishing around as she worked the toy in and out of her pussy but the scene was fairly limited.

Scene Two: Alaura, a brunette with some kicking curves, and Mark Davis starred in the next scene where they appeared to kidnap young Gauge and hold her for ransom. They then started in on each other, not letting Gauge participate in any sex filled games but soon changed their minds and let her free to have some fun too. Seriously though, there was a lot of oral loving going on and everyone got his or her licks in. Alaura was the first to get some meat inside her pussy but Gauge offered up her ass and Mark delivered the good deep inside her while Alaura tasted the ass coated dick a few times. The energy level here was surprisingly low but I think the director was going for a tamer type of scene. Fans of gaping will appreciate it more than I did and it ended with him jerking off to their faces.

Scene Three: Gauge starred in the next scene as well. She played a patient that was getting a checkup from doctor Mark Wood. Clad in her business attire, she undid her blouse so he could get a listen to her heart but ended up getting some head from her mouth. He started the oral pleasuring by snacking on her crack and after getting her wet, allowed her some oral action too. I had almost forgotten how talented she is playing the skin flute since I haven't watched many of her movies in recent years but it seems her talents have expanded somewhat in the interim. In any case, she rode him like her life depended on it and after a few positions, he dropped his load into her mouth and onto her face. In all, it wasn't bad but the hype surrounding the scene has made me wonder whether certain critics have sold out.

Scene Four: Gauge, still looking to be satisfied after the last couple of performances, turned to the bar scene to get some action next. Her target was the Black Silvio, a man I'm less familiar with than Gauge apparently. She stripped for him and he started toying with her before he took off his own clothes. She then started slobbing his knob but seemed unable to get more than the tip inside her mouth. She jerked him off to completion but it seemed like a wasted opportunity to me.

Scene Five: Sabrine, Ramona, and Daisy joined Gauge next in a jail cell. The quartet had some lesbian action that seemed pretty fair, if tamer than average, and the biggest offender was the lack of energy amongst the gals. They did the usual kissing and rubbing before they ended up using toys to get off with. I appreciated the strap on dildo the most but the whole scene seemed like filler to me (and I like lesbian action).

Scene Six: Gauge, in the role of a stripper on a stage, taunted the men in the club, particularly Brian and Alex. The show was far tamer than local strippers give as a regular occurrence but eventually things got heated up when Brian got to go muff diving (something I don't recommend at your local clubs). She seemed to enjoy the action but it didn't get interesting until Alex joined them by offering her some penis. The two men started taking turns screwing her and allowing her to blow them until the inevitable anal with a very weak DP took place. If this is the best Gauge has to offer Metro, I can see why they balked at paying her full contract last year. She did better scenes for Adam & Eve years ago then this (and that was with her skuzzy suitcase pimp)! It wasn't terrible, just far beneath what I expected from the former performance artist of the year.

Summary: For the most part, this will appeal to slavering fan boys of Gauge that are fixated on her for some reason or another. We all have our tastes and I'm not suggesting Gauge fans are any less sane than the rest of you, just that this was not her best offering to the porn gods and anyone but a major fan of hers will want to Skip It. In short, this is a tamer, weaker Gauge that seems to have lost the spark that had so many men and women pining for her to make movies at one of the more hardcore companies. Perhaps if Metro allowed her to work with Pat Myne or Skeeter Kerkove, they'd see the kind of Gauge that would set the stage afire but this was not the case here. The extras and technical values being fairly lousy didn't help but even crystal clarity and extras that would embarrass Wicked Pictures wouldn't have polished up this turd.
