Extras: The best extra by far was the 20:43 minute long Behind the Scenes feature but it lacked footage of my favorite performers so your mileage may well vary (and the camera jerked around a lot). There were also some trailers, a cast list, filmographies, a pop shot recap from the scenes, and website links.

Audio/Video Quality: Supernatural was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Aiden Starr for Evil Angel. The listed camera operators were Nate Liquor, an accomplished director for years, “Blackula”, a name remeniscent of some exploitation movies of the early 70’s I used to watch, and Aiden Starr herself. The extremely basic set made for some curious choices, shooting very pale women in front of a window pouring light into the set where much darker brick walls surrounded them otherwise not helping any more than the abundance of extreme close up shots and really questionable framing. The flesh tones were spotty and if there was any editing to speak of, no one wanted to be credited for it. The video bitrate varied overall and there were substantial compression artifacts observed when the movie was played on my big screen television, the company watermark on the lower right hand corner. The aural components of the show were also very basic, the vocals easily heard but only in a flat manner, limited dynamic range provided though some music was added in post production.

Body of Review: Aiden Starr is a female performer turned director that currently has her works distributed by Evil Angel. Her latest release is called Supernatural, a set of four scenes where even now I’m a bit curious as to what the title means (having read the company description) but suffice it to say that Aiden was in two scenes, one shared with hotty AJ Applegate and the other a threesome with Maddy O’Reilly & Moe Johnson; Ella Nova and Daisy Ducati each having a scene with Mickey Mod. While the males were not up to the popularity levels other company directors use most of the time, I figured the show couldn’t be too bad with three of my favorites featured in scenes (AJ, Maddy and Aiden) so I pressed on without too many preconceived notions to see just what she came up with. The ending credits listed Clint Carney as the one credited with the title concept so it would’ve been nice to see some footage of the guy explaining his concept, the BTS not overly helpful.

Scene One: Aiden Starr, the busty blond featured on the right side of the front cover, and always adorable Maddy O’Reilly, were up first kissing in front of a brick wall and large window, their hands freely roaming each other’s bodies as they pawed one another to some light music. The framing chopped them up a lot here and the amount of close up shots was terrible but it was better than a few of the later scenes, the short tease showing their lesbian exploration with what appeared to be a single camera. The ladies wore torn stretch pants and Maddy had a blue shirt lifted up, their kissing and playful licking soon concentrated on Moe Johnson, Aiden rubbing his growing bulge on top of his white shorts. The ladies excited one another and licked all the right places, some coy looks at the camera forecasting playful moves as each had their dominant asset(s) featured. They spent a wealth of time going down on each other and using some toys, tribbing and maintaining solid eye contact for the bulk of the scene. Summary: Supernatural by director Aiden Starr for Evil Angel had a few great picks in casting such as AJ Applegate, Maddy O’Reilly, and Aiden herself, some of the other choices not conveying a strong sense of “these were my first choices” to me but the reality is that as much as I like the director, the technical aspects were all over the map and in a bad way at that. I mentioned a few of the major issues in the tech section above, the worst probably the framing of the scenes and the sheer amount of extreme close up shots (when combined, those are particularly bad), though some may argue the lighting and editing were worst as a matter of personal choice. Despite the issues though, there were some moments when I felt someone involved in the production “got it” and that saved the title to earn a rating of Rent It, nothing to notify the press about but quite honestly the default rating for many consumers these days, not ass kissing media. So while I would love to pick the brain of those involved in making Supernatural over some of what went into the movie out of sheer curiousity, suffice it to say that I felt the replay value was on the low side this time, the director not even smiling on the front cover so feel free to check it out and let me know if you concur or not, I was hoping for something more refined.
