Extra's: The best extra by a wide margin was the lengthy, 30:27 minute long, Behind the Scenes feature showcasing most of the cast and production crew. A lot of the footage was geared towards showing the photoshoots taking place on the sets but there was a number of anecdotes given up to give a better understanding of what took place overall as well. There was also a slide show, trailers for Hustler and VCA titles and some spam too for those who care.

Audio/Video Quality: Open Up and Say Ahhh! was presented in a letterboxed 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color as shot by director Jim Steel for Hustler Video. For the most part, the use of light and dark seemed to work out nicely with minimal grain or video noise; the darker theme of the movie (as mentioned in the title) catered to fairly well. The fleshtones were accurate and while there did appear to be some edge enhancement and a handful of compression artifacts observed, they were not all that noticeable. The compression rate varied a bunch but appeared to hover around the mid 5 Mbps range and the composition of the camera angles enhanced the look of the ladies in most cases. The editing was a bit weak here and there but nothing so bad that more time wouldn't have allowed it to be better done. The audio was presented in the usual Dolby Digital English with the standard 192 Kbps bitrate. The vocals were easy to here but the music seemed far too generic, mixed fairly well but lacking the dynamic range and separation of higher end efforts by the company.

Body of Review: Jim Steel is a director that I know little about, a quick look at online databases suggesting he shoots mainly gay porn for various companies. Lately, he has been seen hanging out at the offices of Hustler Video, the first movie shot for them being Open Up and Say Ahhh!; a series of unrelated vignettes where the couples had various forms of hardcore sexual activity that blended erotic style with some pretty seasoned moves by the professionals. The movie was originally meant as a showcase vehicle for the company's then contract performer Nikki Nine, the gal having moved on after a minor dispute about a tattoo shortly after she attended the 2007 AEE Show where she literally wowed the fans with her outgoing nature and cute face. In that sense, she did as good a job as any of their current or former employees, the movie one of the handful made for Hustler still waiting to be released. If you're still interested, here is a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Lexi Love, a lean blonde anal queen, was up first in bed with Talon as the two cuddled to store up some energy. This led to a fantasy sequence of sorts where she was given the full slow motion erotic treatment using wind machines, interesting lighting, and a lot of attention to detail as she glanced knowingly at the camera while stripping the clothing off her all natural body. Scene Two: Nikki Nine, the former contract gal for the company featured on the front cover, and industry veteran back from retirement in the form of Stephanie Swift, were up next as the two carried on a lesbian scene that mimicked the dynamic of the last scene opening; using lighting and motion adjustments to provide an erotic sequence rather than a straightforward gonzo scene as originally predicted. They were on a red couch wearing skimpy clothing, their hands all over one another as they caressed and stroked each other ; the motion dehancement lasting longer this time as the combination of youth and experience met up to explore their lean figures. They kissed a lot too and not in the usual porn manner of lizard flicking either; the ladies getting into the act as much as they did the following cunnilingus and fingering. While they also did some 69 work, Stephanie was a net giver this time though both gals shared the moment orally more than usual (making it a believable scene by all accounts).

Scene Three: Bobbi Starr, a gal reminding r version of internet starlet Dana DeArmond, was up next with both Jean Val Jean and Marco Banderas/Duato as she followed the formula laid out before her by the director. Summary: Open Up and Say Ahhh! by director Jim Steel for Hustler Video was uneven but his best effort I've seen to date as it showcased Nikki and Adrianna very nicely with some fine work by Stephanie too. The extras, technical values, and performances were enough to merit a rating of Recommended but I still get the impression that Nikki has a lot more potential as yet untapped so keep an eye on her in our DVD Talk forums and elsewhere as she seeks to land just the right jobs while having the time of her life. In short, Open Up and Say Ahhh! was the kind of title that led me to think it was a blowjob movie but served up a heaping helping of hospitality with other forms of sex as well, making it slightly out of phase with the rest of what the porn industry makes these days.
