Extra's: The best extra was the 5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature shot by Dic Tracy. It was too short but had some cute moments worth looking at in terms of nudity and extra sex; making it better than some of the company's recent efforts where advertised extras like this were missing. It was also interesting to see Nina Hartley taking an active production role as she transitions to production work behind the camera. There was also a true double sided cover, a photogallery and trailers to movies like Jenna Loves Justin (yeah, right!), Sophia Revealed, Jenna Loves Pain, Club Jenna's Casting Couch, Altered Minds, Insexts, McKenzie Illustrated, McKenzie Made, Krystal Therapy, Ashton Asylum, Chanel No. 1, and others.

Audio/Video Quality: Jesse Loves Pain was presented in the usual 1.85:1 ratio non-anamorphic (letterboxed) widescreen color as shot by director Ernest Greene for Club Jenna. The fact that the show revolved around the BDSM lifestyle and a dark dungeon alone should tell you that the picture was on the darker side and subject to all the issues arising from a relative lack of light. Personally, I think the mood would have been set better if filters were used to compensate for the lighting because the grain and video noise, while not terrible, were limitations to my enjoyment once again with this series. Otherwise, the director showed a solid knowledge of the subject at hand (much like he did in the recent award winning O: The Power of Submission that earned a spot on our recent Top Ten Women Porn List) and addressed the kink factors better than the usual bondage specialty movie would do. If you like bondage and have enjoyed many movies about it, you'll know how poorly made almost all of it is so this will definitely be a few steps up from that but on the low side for more mainstream porn. The audio was presented in the 2.0 Dolby Digital English expected, with a moderate use of music to complement the vocals. The vocals did sound hollow at times and some of the music was repetitive but it wasn't the worst I've heard in recent weeks (thanks to Walk Jizzney).

Body of Review: Ernest Greene probably knows more about BDSM than the vast majority of people in the porn industry and his work for Club Jenna has always tried to portray a sense of that knowledge in movies like Jenna Loves Pain and McKenzie Loves Pain. Unfortunately, as appealing as those ladies were, the movies were never really up to par on several levels and the inability fo the director to convey the true sense of BDSM as anything more than a gimmick was their biggest shortcoming. Now taking a third crack at the idea with Jesse Loves Pain, the third in the series that uses contract performer Jesse Capelli, Ernest gives fans of BDSM-lite another look into his world with four scenes following the footsteps of the previous efforts. As the back cover said: "Inspired by the writings of Mistress Chanta Rose, Jesse seeks a position as an apprentice domina in the author's dungeon, where she is schooled in the arts of rope bondage, whip cracking, and three-way sexual services, including the proper application of flogging devices and mechanized sex toys. Her next lesson is sweet-faced Charlotte Stokely, who emerges from her cage a willing vessel of pleasure and is promptly restrained and stimulated to the breaking point. Her education complete, Jesse's reward as a full-fledged mistress is the lithe and slender Jenna Presley, who opens herself up to a stern whipping on the bondage bed, fulfilling Jesse's every twisted desire in a thoroughly climactic exchange of power!" If that sounds interesting to you, here's a quick look at the four scenes, noting that one of the lesbian bondage scenes actually used a condom on the toy:

Scene One: Jesse Capelli, the physically attractive contract gal for the company, was up first as her voice over said she was finding the written works of dominatrix Chata Rose appealing and sexually stimulating. A brief montage latter, the two were having sex in a dungeon with Adrianna Nicole. The bondage implements were such that they set the stage and the wooden dialogue did less to hinder the action than the special effects employed to give the movie a stylish look. This is one of the series biggest failings in my opinion but fans of BDSM flicks have so little to pick from (the hardcore titles in this genre tend to look shitty in another way) so keeping that in mind, watching the main duo team up on Adrianna was interesting. They used a crop on her, sat on her face and otherwise made her service them orally, and rode a strap on dildo she was given (using a condom, no less!). The abuse was lighter than most gonzo flicks these days and both gals took turns on Adrianna's face and toy with some additional toys employed for good measure. The rope work was well done but limited and the dynamic of Jesse in charge was woefully understated and unconvincing.

Scene Two: Gia Paloma, a curvy extreme queen in porn for awhile now, was up next as she served a now dominant switch hitter Adrianna Nicole; who showed she embraces both sides of the lifestyle. I liked Adrianna's shiny skin tight PVC (or was it leather?) outfit and Gia has long proven to be a capable performer so the dynamic of the scene went well; even if sugar coated with thumping music and camera effects. The use of a vacuum pump on Gia's clitoris was okay and her being placed on the punishment bench in an ass up position was appealing but the use of lots of foot fetish material and the "cock rocking" chair were less so.

Scene Three: Claire Adams, playing another stern mistress dominating alt-porn cutie Charlotte Stokely, were up next as Jesse Capelli joined in as a secondary dominant. Charlotte's pleas for pleasure while she was trapped in the cage answered when her two captors teased and pleased her; letting her orally service them before they released her for a more complete set of sex acts. The choking, face sitting, and trampling were standard and the use of feet was again a dominant theme (pun intended). The dominants used strap on dildos too but the sex was too mechanical to truly enjoy for me.

Scene Four: Jenna Presley, was last up as a submissive who kept getting in trouble as a new trainee for Jesse Capelli. This scene was in a bedroom and both of the newcomers showed a lack of acting ability when it came to the wooden dialogue. They might have done better improvising but the music was such that it did little to enhance the scene and the limited use of Jenna's prone body (in spread eagle fashion on the bed) seemed wasted. There was flogging and toy use too but for the scene to work, the suspension of disbelief regarding Jesse's ability to play a dominant had to have some credibility; and it completely lacked that as Jenna topped from the bottom. The over the top faked orgasms were also a chore and whatever heat the other scenes had was lost here.

Summary: Jesse Loves Pain by director Ernest Greene for Club Jenna was lacking in terms of heat, chemistry, and any real BDSM appeal. I may not have even the slightest of skills in the area compared to the director but I know how his works seem to lose sight of the fact that experiencing something first hand and being able to properly convey it to an outsider on a movie are vastly different things. In that sense, it was like the limited Jenna Loves Pain and McKenzie Loves Pain; never getting there with consistency although definitely offering up something different enough to merit a rating of Rent It. In short, Jesse Loves Pain would have done better to use a different contract performer since as lovely as Jesse looks, her ability to convey a dominatrix was laughably bad.
