Extra's: The best extra was easily the 28 minute long bonus scene between Marie Luv and Manuel Ferrara in a living room setting. It included anal and while it wasn't one of her top scenes of the year, bonus sex scenes aren't judged as harshly by me so it really seemed pretty good in this format (there was a spot on the upper right hand corner of the lens so he kept it out of the movie; who would've thought a director with a sense of quality control still lived in porn valley?!?). I also liked the 12 minute long Behind the Scenes feature since it allowed the viewer to get to know the cast a bit better. There were interviews, extra sex footage, and some general goofing around worth checking out for fans. There was also a photogallery, a cumshot recap, and trailers to shows like Heartbreakers, Almost Virgins 3, Dirty Dan's POV 2, and XXX Pin Ups 1.

Audio/Video Quality: Anal Romance 3 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Steve Holmes for release by Mach 2. The series had started out at his old home at Platinum X Pictures but they stopped production earlier this year so he must've decided it was time to revive it elsewhere as so many of his friends have been doing (Anal Romance 2 and Anal Romance 1 were both considered to be quite good by the way but are now out of print). The lighting was flat and decent like most gonzo shoots tend to be these days, providing limited grain and increasing the accuracy of the fleshtones as a result. The camera work was not always rock solid though and some judicious editing might've helped to polish this one up in a favorable manner although the composition of the camera angles did tend to favor the ladies more than a little bit. The bonus scene was essentially scrapped because of a single small spot on the lens that really didn't amount to much so at least Steve is trying to insure his product is better, although this one had some minor issues, it was still pretty good visually. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio was a little hollow in some cases and the ladies didn't make the best use of dirty talk but it also seemed to be a relative step upward for Steve compared to some of his last works at PXP.

Body of Review: Steve Holmes has been considered one of the gentlemen of porn now for years for the way he treats the ladies with a sense of old world grace and charm when allowed to do so. I saw it in person at one of the conventions in Las Vegas and I've seen it in various BTS features so if it's just an act, he makes it look real. Now that PXP has stopped shooting porn for awhile, Steve has taken one of his older series and brought it to Mach 2, with the result being Anal Romance 3, the thematic sequel to Anal Romance 2 and Anal Romance 1. The show spends a lot of time establishing the men in romantic settings with the ladies after they heat up the small screen with some splendid tease footage, leading to a lot of variations on the anal sex barometer. That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Mia Rose, the blue eyed cutie featured on the front DVD cover, was up first as she was displayed in a montage of shots from all around a house (and pool) that displayed her physical appeal far better than my words will. She wore the red thong and matching top displayed on the cover for most of it, ending up with Steve Holmes in the pool as a result. He took his time warming the young vixen up, cradling her in his arms, kissing her, and attending to her needs orally before she returned the favor with a blowjob. This led to them going into the house for the vaginal sex, with her masturbating for him before he started boning her. He did most of the work this time, drilling her pussy and ass as though seeking to go balls deep, and while I greatly prefer active female partners, she was a cutie so I give her credit for that. It should also be noted that she did eventually warm up to provide a moderately active anal romp before he let loose his seed into her mouth when she jerked him off.

Scene Two: Tobi Pacific, a curvy redhead wearing a short navy blue dress on, was in the mood for some loving so she walked to the bedroom to wake up sleepyhead Erik Everhard for some fun. She was built for comfort over speed and after the tease, she went outside for Manuel Ferrara to properly warm up. Scene Four: Georgia Peach, a Floridian with a few lovable extra pounds herself, was up next as she provided director Steve Holmes with an interview outside in the shade behind the house. He used his usual romantic mannerisms to get her warmed up, sucking her titties and feeling her body up as he progressed; leading to both of them giving each other some of the best head of the movie. He did a disproportionate amount of the action but she did seem to try harder in a couple of positions. When she was on top (having done a fair bit of ATM), she started working him pretty well, resulting in the ending mouth pop that he rubbed out to close the scene.

Scene Five: Mia Bangg, kicking back on the lounge chair by the pool and smoking a cigarette in the nude, was up last as she masturbated for all to see on the sunny day. The only thing she wore was her PVC red stripper boots, walking inside the house to find Mike Adriano waiting for her as she masturbated on the stairs. Granted, the cover's claim that he was a super stud was more than a little bit of an exaggeration but he's been an up and comer for awhile and with some help could be better. He was sloppy in his oral to her and she returned the favor nicely enough, with the rimjob he provided setting her on fire for the coming backdoor work. She wanted him in her ass and while she did not always thrust back onto his rod, she at least seemed to enjoy the action more than a little bit. Several positions later, she took the mouth pop and I can see why she has been gaining a lot of fans thanks to scenes like this one.

Summary: Anal Romance 3 wasn't the best movie I've seen by director Steve Holmes but it wasn't bad either. In that sense, Anal Romance 3 was much like other releases by Mach 2 but it fit in well with the previous volumes in the series (Anal Romance 2 and Anal Romance 1) nicely as well. The cast of cuties could have been more sexually aggressive in how they approached the scenes though and that's why I rated this one as a Rent It; though the extras were good, the technical values decent, and levels of fuck for the buck and replay value could've gone either way. Give it a look before you buy but note that Steve's back in the business directing so I hope he shows us all what he's capable of in the future.
