Audio/Video Quality: The Girl Next Door is presented in 1.85:1 non-anamorphic widescreen. Shot in HD, the picture looked remarkably good with great detail and bright, accurate colors. Lighting was good overall except for the first scene, which was a little blown-out. I didn't notice any compression issues and edge enhancement was kept to a minimum. I do find it a shame that Combat Zone didn't go the extra step and make the DVD anamorphic. Hopefully on future releases we'll see that come true. The Dolby Digital 2.0 track got the job done and was consistent throughout the scenes. There was no background music in the feature and the soundtrack picked up all the action you'd want to hear.

Vince G's Initial Musings: The Girl Next Door is one of the first releases from Dion Giarrusso's new company, Combat Zone. Dion is of course known for founding the company Red Light District, which he later sold to his brother. Everybody loves a good comeback and hopefully that's what Dion will deliver with his new titles from Combat Zone, including The Girl Next Door.

Scene One: Starring Samantha South, Sergio and Justine Syder. Samantha, a young brunette starts the scene off by talking to the camera by the pool. The menus are simple, clean and effective and there are ample amounts of chapter stops throughout the feature.

Vince G's Final Word: Dion Giarrusso has started things off right with Combat Zone by delivering a solid release with The Girl Next Door. While there are a few great scenes (Addison and Amy Reid), there are also a few average ones. The presentation of The Girl Next Door on DVD is quite good despite not being anamorphic and only a handful of extras. Director Dan Tana does his part by doing a good job with the camera and getting nice performances out of some newer actors. Hopefully as Combat Zone continues to grow, we'll see even better titles making their way onto store shelves. Recommended.
