Audio/Video Quality: Starlets of the Year was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by the uncredited staff of Devil’s Films. I really like to know who is in charge of the making of a movie since it allows blame or credit to be handed out, a lack of name typically tied to blame if you want to be fair but I also think it is imperative that company’s properly label compilations too. My biggest issue this time was that the scenes seemed edited to fit onto the single disc, less tease and set up which bothered me despite the awesome cast. The lighting was usually decent here even if the vocals were hollow, the flesh tones accurate as a result and the framing seemingly off at times; some scenes much better looking than others. There were a lot of close up shots included and some aggressive editing, the movie looking slightly better than previous volumes in the series but still having a long way to go to really compete against the big boys of porn. There was a company watermark on the lower right hand corner of the screen at all times, some of the framing causing it to get in the way but not too often, a fair amount of compression artifacts observed when I watched this on my big screen television.. The aural components were very basic this time, the hollow vocals and minor background noises containing lots of groans and occasional music but not developed very much.

Body of Review: Devil’s Film has taken great strides since new owners took over awhile back, some of their series impressing a variety of critics and reviewers as the company set out to upgrade their works. The latest title in for review is the just released Starlets of the Year, a selection of 6 full scenes from the company vaults, many of them starring my personal favorite ladies. With ladies like AJ Applegate, Dani Daniels, Anikka Albrite, Bonnie Rotten, Maddy O’Reilly, and Skin Diamond in the scenes, I was hopeful this would be as good as it sounded to me, knowing the company sometimes uses scenes that have already been used in other compilations. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Fornocation 101 1st Semester: Dani Daniels, Will Powers: Dani Daniels, a multi-award winning hotty as seen on the lower right corner of the front cover of this compilation, was up first spreading her glorious ass on top of a desk as director David Christopher gave her some orders to pose. With ladies like AJ Applegate, Dani Daniels, Anikka Albrite, Bonnie Rotten, Maddy O’Reilly, and Skin Diamond on hand to help fill your spank bank to overflowing, I can see why Starlets of the Year may well appeal to a general audience, the lack of filler scenes this time making it a nicely handled compilation with the one caveat that the scenes appeared shorter than in their original releases.
