DVD BREAKDOWN:

Dorcel’s box designs are the closest thing that resembles a VHS box in today’s DVD market. The bare-bones approach is apparent in retaining that vintage prestige you’d expect from a studio that is pushing 40. The simplistic approach contains minimal info by just sticking to what is barely required from an adult DVD on the market. The director’s credit has a small listing above the larger film logo on the front cover. A frozen still shot is blended into this film’s logo along with the golden watermark of this well-known French studio. That has a moniker at the top of all their physical releases. A listing of the female talent sits at the bottom along with an age warning reminding that this film is for adults only. Even when I flipped the box around I still didn’t see one piece of pertinent info like how long the film is or if there was a cumshot recap of some sort. All I got was a very brief and generic summary of the film next to more spliced stills. The only real “extra” information is with the notification of social media where the Dorcel brand can be accessed.

OPENING STATEMENT:

I understand that Dorcel is a proven institution in the world of porn. This age-old brand is established internationally among fans and porn aficionados alike. I put the DVD in my PS3 to get audio specifications and by hitting the SELECT button on my controller I noticed 2 channel Dolby Digital support when I did that. A dropping beat thumps as the music that loops at the main menu repeats. It does so at about every minute or so on this loop. The main menu is evidence of this minimalist approach by Dorcel. Here you’ll only have language options and access to trailers as your only places to go here on this animated main menu. These options allow you to pick the language that the audio dub is in. The choice of text caption is available in multiple languages as well.

There is no trailer menu it just starts a flow of clips from different Dorcel productions. The different films get their title and box shot superimposed as their trailers play through. I thought this was a neat touch. There is almost ten minutes worth of Dorcel trailers for those interested in more films by the famed  French studio.

The other attempt at this global reach is a light adherence to any meaningful dialogue in their films. In "A 40-year-old Wife's Deep Desires”  the plot is stretched thin leaving us with characters that just float on by. A spotty plot is the result of this hodgepodge erotica. Now I know this is condom porn if you even want to call it “porn” being that is refined in the vein of pure erotica, which alone makes it hard to recommend to average buyers/viewers. This 40-year-old studio has built an empire on these light flowing sex films. But when a plot is at stake what else is left? This is something you'd be better off not watching if you want better representations of "story porn" as some would call it. I'd Skip it if I saw it anywhere on a shelf of click past it on any on-demand website.
