Twitter Delists All Adult Content Accounts

SOCIAL MEDIA STRAIGHT

Things are a hot mess on Twitter today. All adult profiles are being delisted from Twitter search, which of course, makes it hard for people to tag someone because they aren’t always sure what the right name is.

Sure, you know that @pornhub is pornhub.com, but not everyone has such an easy Twitter handle to remember. I, for example, am Kelli Roberts, who uses the Twitter handle @MissKelliXXX.

If you didn’t already know that, you aren’t going to find me on Twitter using their tagging or search bar.

The same goes for any person or company that posts adult material.

If you wanted to figure out what porn star Rachel Starr’s Twitter handle was and started typing @rachel in the search bar, you aren’t going to find the real (verified) Rachel Starr, which is @RachelStarrxxx, but you sure will find a lot of people pretending to be her.

This makes it way easier for conmen to scam unsuspecting fans.

Twitter says that for $8 per month (via the web or $11 if you purchase through your phone), you can have your account verified and that your tweets will be prioritized above all others. This is meant to help fight scams and spam. That’s their exact wording. Let me show you the screenshot.

Apparently, however, this doesn’t apply to anyone who posts adult content. So, what’s the point of paying for verification if your account is hidden?

Another thing Twitter is doing is changing the wording for traditional verified accounts, or legacy verified accounts, as they call them. Now it says this … “May or may not be notable” … ouch!

Elon Musk is known as a free-speech absolutist. This means that he may not agree with what you are saying, but he’ll die to defend your right to say it.

Now that being said, free speech does not include things such as incitement, defamation, fraud, obscenity, child pornography, fighting words, and threats.

But pornography is not illegal. Obscenity and pornography are not the same thing.

It’s very important that you know and understand the difference as the production of pornography (for the most part) is not illegal, however, the production of obscenity will, in fact, land your ass in jail.

  • Posting a video of a naked girl having sex with a guy is pornography.
  • Posting a video of a man pissing in a girl’s mouth is obscenity.

There is a difference, legally speaking. You may not agree with the law, but it is the law. Just because you don’t agree with it won’t suddenly and magically make it legal.

But I’m getting off-topic here. The point I’m trying to make today is, even if you aren’t posting anything illegal, Twitter is, in fact, censoring you.

Why? Considering the owner claims to be a free-speech absolutist?

I think it’s time we start tweeting @ElonMusk and asking him that very question.
