Talent Testing Releases June 2025 STD Trend Report: Swab Positivity Rates on the Rise

NEWS & PRESS STRAIGHT

Talent Testing Service (TTS), a leading testing provider for the adult industry, has released its June 2025 STD trend report, noting a slight but noticeable increase in positivity rates for several STDs, particularly chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, and Mycoplasma genitalium (Mgen) with rectal and throat swab results showing the sharpest uptick.

The company emphasizes the importance of full-panel testing with swabs, especially for sexually active individuals within high-risk communities, including adult film performers.

Talent Testing Service Reveals Key STD Rates in December 2023

Key Findings from the June 2025 Report

Gonorrhea

  • Urogenital positivity: 4.42% (↑ from 4.16% in May)
  • Throat swab positivity: 1.93%
  • Rectal swab positivity: 6.68%

Gonorrhea

  • Urogenital positivity: 1.67% (↑ from 1.57%)
  • Throat swab positivity: 2.45%
  • Rectal swab positivity: 4.89%

Mycoplasma Genitalium (Mgen)

  • Overall positivity: 1.07% (↑ from 0.99%)

Trichomoniasis

  • Overall positivity: 0.20% (↑ from 0.17%)

Syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis B/C

  • Remain low and stable

Urine-Based Testing Trends

  • Chlamydia urine positivity rose slightly across all groups, with total rates climbing to 1.2% (from 1.0%).
  • Gonorrhea urine positivity showed mixed results, with the female rate increasing slightly while the male and total rates decreased.
  • Trichomoniasis urine positivity declined overall but remains within expected ranges.
  • Mycoplasma genitalium urine positivity showed a downward trend in June, with female rates dropping from 4.3% to 3.3%.

Swab-Based Testing Trends

  • Swab data shows sharper increases, especially in rectal chlamydia and gonorrhea rates:
  • Chlamydia (rectal swab): 6.68% positivity — highest among all indicators
  • Gonorrhea (throat swab): 2.45%
  • Gonorrhea (rectal swab): 4.89% — continues to show volatility

Despite some downward movement in certain categories (e.g., chlamydia throat swabs dropping to 0.0% in the broader TTS sample), Talent Testing emphasizes that site-specific and demographic factors may account for discrepancies between internal data and wider market trends.

Rising positivity rates in non-urogenital sites (throat and rectum) highlight the continued importance of comprehensive testing, especially in the adult industry, where multi-partner and fluid-exchange activities are common.

“Regular, full-panel testing with swabs remains critical,” TTS said in a statement. “These rising trends particularly in rectal and throat specimens reinforce the need for consistent, comprehensive screening.”
