Skylar Mae looks like your average girl next door, but she’s far from it. She has more than a million followers on Twitter and 4.7 million on Instagram. That in itself is impressive, but that isn’t why she’s in the news today.

In a candid interview, 21-year-old OnlyFans star Skylar Mae shared how her unconventional path to success has become a family affair, with her parents not only supporting her X-rated career but also investing in it.

The young creator, who once studied to become a dental nurse, now earns six figures a month creating explicit content online and gives her parents $18,000 monthly to help with medical bills and living expenses.

Skylar Mae says her motivation stems from her parents’ long-standing health issues and the sacrifices they made for her. “My dad would work so hard for my family, even with all of his health issues, that it’s nice seeing him take a few days off of work here and there,” she told news.com.au.

“Truly, what gets me out of bed every day is knowing I’m taking care of them.”

The support goes both ways. Mae’s parents not only back her career emotionally; her father even has her stage name tattooed on his arm. They’ve also contributed financially. Early on, they purchased lingerie for her shoots, and even her grandmother has joined in, buying her rhinestone outfits from Amazon.

Mae says her mother often drives her to and from bookings and stays nearby to ensure her safety, while both parents stay involved in her daily routines and performance metrics, even using industry lingo.

“They’ll call me and they’ll be like, ‘What kind of content did you do today? How many customs did you do?’” Mae said. “They know it all.”

Still, Skylar Mae draws clear boundaries. “There’s definitely a line,” she said. “I guess maybe I’m a little bit more reserved than them.”

While acknowledging the stigma still surrounding sex work, Mae says she’s proud of her independence and grateful for a rare kind of family support.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “I just redid their bathroom and love taking them on holidays.”

With her earnings and close-knit family, Mae has redefined what financial success and support can look like even when it comes in an unconventional package.
