Poor Jesse Jane. Even in death, she can’t get a break.
An 82-year-old Texas man has come forward, claiming he was married to the late porn star Jesse Jane at the time of her death from a drug overdose.
Richard H. Wilcox Jr., of Longview, Texas, is seeking control of her estate in Oklahoma from her son, Ethan Self. A hearing is set for September 9 in Cleveland County District Court.
“She was beautiful,” Wilcox said in a brief phone interview. “She was a very good person, very intelligent, extremely intelligent. That usually doesn’t go with that industry.”
Wilcox, the former president of RHW Metals, a company servicing the oil industry, asserts that he and Jesse Jane were married in Santorini, Greece, on July 17, 2019, and later formalized their marriage in Texas. Despite filing for divorce last year, Wilcox contends that their marriage was legitimate until her death.
This is, of course, despite the fact that Jesse Jane had a boyfriend, Brett Hasenmueller, who’d died alongside Jesse Jane earlier this year.
Jesse Jane, known for her roles in the adult film “Pirates” (2005) and its sequel “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge” (2008), passed away in January at her boyfriend’s home in Moore, Oklahoma.
The autopsy report, made public on Sunday, revealed she died from a cocaine and fentanyl overdose. Jane was 43 years old.
Police discovered the bodies of Jane and her boyfriend, Brett Hasenmueller, 33, on January 24 during a welfare check. Both deaths were investigated as drug overdoses.
In March, Cleveland County Associate District Judge Bethany Stanley appointed Jane’s son, Ethan Self, as the interim special administrator of her estate. The judge was initially informed that “there are no additional heirs that need to be noticed of these proceedings.”
Richard H. Wilcox Jr., however, is challenging this appointment. His attorney, J. David Terrell filed a motion to vacate Self’s appointment and install Richard H. Wilcox Jr. as the special administrator. The legal filing included a Declaration and Registration of Informal Marriage, signed by Wilcox and Jane on November 6, 2019, asserting they were married.
Jesse Jane’s estate is reported to have a net worth of $500,000. With no will located, Wilcox’s attorney stated that, under state law, Wilcox is entitled to half of the estate, with the other half going to Self.
“He’ll get half and her son will get half, which he doesn’t have any problem with it,” Terrell said.
Wilcox’s claim to the estate is complicated by his involvement in federal civil cases and bankruptcy proceedings, where he has been accused of misusing company funds for personal expenses.
Allegations include using corporate credit cards for luxury vacations to Europe with Jane and other personal expenses as RHW Metals struggled financially. Wilcox has denied these accusations and declined to discuss the matter further.
Despite the legal and financial controversies, Wilcox maintains a private demeanor regarding his relationship with Jane. He shared that they met nine years ago when he flew to Oklahoma City on his private plane. “I’m a very private person,” he said. “I don’t need any notoriety.”
Wilcox fondly recalled how Jane was adored by fans. “Anywhere, any small town, I don’t care where you went. She was known, I’m guessing, by probably 60% of the people on the face of the Earth.”
Jesse Jane’s friends are devastated by the news that Richard H. Wilcox Jr. (an 82-year-old man) is trying to exploit her even in death.
