Porn star Kendra Sunderland, famously known as “Library Girl,” was arrested in Montgomery County, Texas, on August 1 for felony possession of marijuana. Sunderland, 29, was taken into custody just after noon for having less than one gram of THC, according to court documents.

Sunderland, who rose to fame following a controversial public indecency conviction in 2015 at Oregon State University, was released after posting a $1,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court in Conroe, Texas, next month.

The circumstances leading to Sunderland’s arrest remain unclear, and authorities have not disclosed what initially drew their attention to the actress. Sunderland has remained largely silent on the matter, telling TMZ, “I’ve been advised not to say anything. I’m not trying to incriminate myself any further.”

The arrest took place in Conroe, a small town north of Houston, known for its namesake, the 22,000-acre Lake Conroe. Although marijuana possession is legal in Sunderland’s home state of Nevada, where adults 21 and older can possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis in private or licensed lounges, Texas laws remain stringent. Marijuana possession in the Lone Star State is still illegal and carries significant legal consequences.

Sunderland’s brush with the law in Texas is not her first. She gained notoriety in 2015 after being arrested for streaming an explicit video from the library of Oregon State University, earning her the moniker “Library Girl.” Despite this earlier controversy, Sunderland has managed to build a career in the adult film industry, becoming a well-known figure.

In her brief statement regarding her recent arrest, Sunderland described herself as “just a stoner,” distancing herself from any criminal intent. However, the incident underscores the varying legal landscapes across the United States concerning marijuana, which remains a controlled substance in several states, including Texas.
