PRESS RELEASE STRAIGHT

Jimmyjane Thrills L.A. County Hospital Workers with Muscle Massager Donation

Award-winning sexual wellness brand promotes selfcare to front-line workers fighting COVID-19

CHATSWORTH, Calif. – April 9, 2020 – Award-winning sexual wellness brand Jimmyjane is helping healthcare workers relieve tension and stress as they battle the COVID-19 pandemic on the frontlines. Over the weekend, Jimmyjane donated 150 powerful muscle massagers to the emergency room staff of Los Angeles County (LAC) + USC Medical Center, a 600-bed facility and premier academic teaching hospital serving mostly low-income and uninsured folks in Southern California.

“Self-care is so important right now to prevent getting sick and promote overall wellness,” said Dr. Jessica Osterman, MD, Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine (Clinician Educator) and Assistant Residency Director for Emergency Medicine at LAC + USC Medical Center. “Whether you’re working in a hospital ER or isolated at home, we all need a little TLC at this difficult time.”

Osterman shared the gift bags filled with Jimmyjane Evoke Sol-O and Jimmyjane Evoke Rol-O Massagers with the emergency medicine residents, nurses, and staff over the weekend.  These premium silicone massage tools are lightweight, portable, and designed to work out kinks and tension from smaller muscles, including the neck, shoulders and calves, with ease.  A helpful tool providing users with the much needed and doctor-recommended self-care.

“We are so thankful to Jimmyjane for this unique donation,” Dr. Osterman said. “Our doctors, nurses, and the staff who help the hospital run day and night are working harder than ever, and we’re always looking for ways to support them through their shifts. They lost their minds when they received their gifts! Everyone sends tons of gratitude.”

“I’m so glad Jimmyjane could bring a bit of joy to the folks working at LAC+USC,” Jimmyjane Head of Marketing Shannon McCarty-Caplan said. “While we don’t manufacture medical equipment, we do excel at providing premium self-care products. When I heard about the sacrifices Dr. Osterman and her team were making to help our community, like living apart from their families to keep them safe from COVID-19, I knew we had to do something to help. The Evoke Rol-O and Evoke Sol-O massagers are the perfect self-care tools for on the go.”

McCarty-Caplan imagines many people must be in search of self-care tools, as Jimmyjane.com has experienced 50% growth month-over-month since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year.

“I’m happy people are taking the #stayhome orders seriously, and grateful Jimmyjane can help play a positive role in their life at this moment,” McCarty-Caplan said. “Self-isolation doesn’t have to mean pleasure depravation.”

“It’s more important now than ever to stay home to stay safe,” Osterman said, referencing Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation data showing the U.S. will hit its COVID-19 infection “peak” in mid-April.

There are signs of hope ahead.  Osterman believes California’s stay-at-home order is responsible for the lower-than-expected rates of COVID-19 patients at her facility.

“But that definitely doesn’t mean it’s safe to venture out,” she said. “Abiding by the ‘stay-at-home’ order is critical to ‘flatten the curve’ and help hospitals keep patient quantities at manageable levels.”
