J.P., Co-Founder, and Owner of Studio 58, was recently on The 2 Kinky Women Podcast with Midnight Lady and Mistress Gabrielle to discuss how he and his crew handle events.
Studio 58 organizes special events and adult education for people over 18 years of age to express themselves authentically and explore their sexuality and relationships without prejudice in safe, well-managed environments. They host the hotel takeovers, Naughty Gras and Naughty Noel. They offer the cabin camping event, Naughty in Nature (with indoor plumbing and hot showers). Studio 58 also offers regularly scheduled parties, munches, and “Sipping Social” meet-ups.
J.P. Discussed how essential the crew is and how important the mindset is going into the larger events. He brought up how prepared the staff is for emergencies and how they are in relation to local agencies. They discussed the importance of understanding and signing detailed waivers before entering the events and consensual safety during the shows.
“I want people to understand what they’re walking into,” noted J.P. “We insist people come to the vetting circles before fire play, needles, blood play, wax, and water bondage… We saw a massive amount of new people who had never been to an event before, post covid… So we decided to start doing the vetting circle so we could articulate to those people the information we had on paper. So we knew they didn’t just glance over it”
Midnight Lady asked J.P. about trends in the scene, acceptance of kink in mainstream society, and the crossover of the BDSM community with the swinger lifestyle. She also asked J.P. about guests and understanding consent at Studio 58 events.
“While we do our tours, we show people the major areas and how to navigate around,” J.P. assured. “While we are doing that, we’re talking about consent. We’re talking about etiquette. My tour guide is interacting with these people… If you educate, educate, educate, folks will act like adults.”
